Packers Expected to Maintain NFC North Dominance in 2022

2022 Green Bay Packers Futures Odds by CashBet Sportsbook

With a few exceptions, the Green Bay Packers have owned the NFC North Division for the past two decades.  Thus, gamblers are expecting that to continue in 2022.  Green Bay is the Super Bowl best favorite in the NFC North again, and with good reason.  Green Bay is the proven champion and has the best quarterback of the four teams.  Namely, Aaron Rodgers is an asset like few others in football.  Also, the rest of the NFC North is woefully mediocre.  Minnesota is the great broken promise.  In comparison, Chicago and Detroit are simply bad.

How Will the Pack Attack Without Adams?

It is true that Aaron Rodgers is a best sportsbook online asset as the best quarterback in the NFC North.  But Rodgers has lost his top receiver, Davonte Adams, to the Las Vegas Raiders.  Thus, the Packers have an important element of the unknown heading into training camp.

Head Coach Matt LaFleur has led the Green Bay Packers to the betting on Super Bowl Playoffs in three of his first three seasons.  Consider that LaFleur took over a team that had missed the postseason in the two campaigns before this arrival.

However, he has not been able to get the Packers to the Super Bowl.

Accordingly, Green Bay’s most recent Super Bowl appearance was in 2010.  Since then, the Packers have missed the playoffs just two times.  But they have never been able to advance to the Super Bowl.  Green Bay fans are increasingly frustrated with the Packers’ inability to make the Super Bowl.  And even with all of his record-setting stats, Aaron Rodgers has only that one Super Bowl appearance.

Minnesota Turns the Page

Finally, Mike Zimmer was fired as the Vikings’ head coach.  Zimmer reached his Super Bowl betting odds zenith in 2017 when he led the club to the NFC Championship Game.  Following their loss at the Philadelphia Eagles, the Vikings acquired quarterback Kirk Cousins.  Cousins was touted as the missing link to a Super Bowl.  Instead, the Vikings have never come as close as that 2017 team.  In fact, Zimmer failed to get Minnesota into the playoffs in three of the last four seasons, including 2021 and 2022.

Replacing Zimmer is Kevin O’Connell, the Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator.  O’Connell’s ties to Rams head coach Sean McVay were a factor in his getting the job at Minnesota.  At the onset of his Super Bowl betting

tenure, O’Connell’s top priority is getting Cousins on a championship course.  With Cousins as the quarterback, the Vikings have been one of the NFL’s greatest and most frustrating teases.

A Bear Market for Chicago?

In like manner, Matt Eberflus is the new head coach of the Chicago Beas.  Eberflus built his coaching resume as a solid career coordinator.  This is his first head coaching assignment.  Eberflus takes over for Matt Nagy, who led the Bears to the 2018 NFC North title as a rookie HC.  However, Nagy never again reached that level.

Last year’s rookie sensation Justin Fields was left to fend for himself.  Chicago has not surrounded Fields with a strong supporting cast.  Thus, there is the concern that Fields could have his career destroyed before it ever gets untracked.
