Colts Favored in Expected Two-Team AFC South Race

As a result of the lost season, the Jaguars have chosen a proven NFL head coach and quarterback developer to lead them going forward.  Doug Pederson led the Philadelphia Eagles to their only Super Bowl championship five seasons ago.  Now he is tasked with getting Trevor Lawrence up to speed.

Texans Change Coaches as Gamblers Ask Why?

The Houston Texans are all about the future.  Correlate that caretaker head coach David Culley was fired after one season.  Culley inherited a team that played with one hand tied behind its back.  Specifically, then-starting quarterback Deshaun Watson was suspended for the entire season.  Thus, Houston was doomed from the start.  Watson is now with Cleveland.

And then, in a strange move, the Texans hired Lovey Smith as the man to replace Culley.  Smith had a solid run as head coach of the Chicago Bears.  But his most recent gig as head coach at the University of Illinois was an abysmal failure.  On the other hand, Smith plays well with others and has that past NFL record of success.
