Last year the Colts failed to make the expanded 2021 NFL Playoffs. Indianapolis had the playoff berth in hand with two games to play. But the Colts blew a 23-20 home loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. And then, in the season finale, the Colts were humiliated at Jacksonville 26-11 by the NFL’s worst team. It is no surprise that the Colts are not Super Bowl best favorites. Yet Indianapolis could be a hidden gem. Former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has arrived. And Carson Wentz was dispatched to Washington. Gamblers like those moves.

Super Bowl LVII CashBet Odds Analysis – Can Colts Get Back in the Saddle?
On the whole, the Colts’ collapse is impossible to put into words. There is still best sportsbook online anger and rage overblowing a playoff spot. Losing at home to the Raiders was bad enough. But at least Las Vegas was a playoff team. But the utter ineptitude in a loss at Jacksonville will never be forgiven.
Colts owner Jim Irsay ranted and raved about betting on Super Bowl accountability. Somebody had to pay for the debacle. Head coach Frank Reich and general manager Chris Ballard survived. However, quarterback Carson Wentz did not. Wentz was traded to the Washington Football Team (now Commanders) for draft picks. In reality, the Colts were prepared to deal Wentz for a sack of used practice footballs.
Wentz Project Ends in Failure
Fair or not, Carson Wentz developed the reputation for being a soft player. Consider he was oft-injured as the number one quarterback of the Eagles. Philadelphia became fed up with his inconsistent play and inability to stay in the lineup. Thus, Wentz was traded to the Colts. Indianapolis was thought to be a safe space for Wentz. A location with far less poisonous media than Philadelphia. The Super Bowl betting odds theory was that Wentz would be an effective starter for the Colts. Instead, he flopped in a must-win game against the worst team in football.
Ryan’s Hope for Colts Fans
Now Matt Ryan is the proclaimed Super Bowl betting savior of the Colts. And there is plenty of good reason for that label. Certainly, Ryan is an upgrade over Carson Wentz. He has vastly superior metrics in a long and distinguished career. Another plus for Ryan is that he rarely misses games. Since 2010, Ryan has missed only one regular-season game.
Of course, he is best known as the quarterback that took Atlanta to Super Bowl LI. In the third quarter, Ryan staked the Falcons to a 28-3 lead. New England came back to win the game in the greatest Super Bowl comeback in history. However, nobody blames Ryan for the NFL gambling debacle. Atlanta’s coaching staff blew the game with horrific offensive play calls that fed right into the Patriots’ Comeback.
Ryan’s Resume of Excellence
At the onset of his career, Matt Ryan was the third overall pick of the 2008 NFL Draft out of Boston College. Ryan was the 2016 NFL Most Valuable Player. He is a 4-time Pro Bowler. Most important of all, Ryan led the Falcons to six playoff seasons. Ryan brings an important intangible to the Falcons. To illuminate, Ryan has a resume that teammates and opponents will respect.
It’s Now or Never for Frank Reich
On the whole, Frank Reich has been a successful coach in Indianapolis. He has produced three winning seasons and two playoff berths in four campaigns. However, the loss at Jacksonville to blow the playoffs has put Reich on the hot seat. Fortunately, Reich brings a solid offensive mind and is a former NFL quarterback. Thus, he should partner perfectly with Ryan.
