2022 San Francisco 49ers NFL Betting Analysis by CashBet Sportsbook

2022 San Francisco 49ers NFL Betting Analysis by CashBet Sportsbook

On the whole, Kyle Shanahan has been a Super Bowl best success as the 49ers head coach.  San Francisco hired Shanahan in 2017 after flopping to a 2-14 record in Chip Kelly’s only season as head coach.  The aftermath of Jim Harbaugh’s departure was a stain on the franchise.  And it took four years to get things back up and running.  Shanahan has led the 49ers to the NFC championship and NFC championship game.  Jimmy Garoppolo was his quarterback.  Last year Jimmy G and the 49ers failed to finish a 4th quarter NFC championship game lead.

2022 San Francisco 49ers – CashBet Odds Analysis

Jimmy Garoppolo led the 49ers to one of their most inspiring playoff runs in sportsbook history.  First was a fantastic finish in a 23-17 comeback win at the Dallas Cowboys.  That was followed by a 13-10 win on the Frozen Tundra of Green Bay against the Packers.  But midnight struck for San Francisco in the NFC championship games.  The Rams beat the 49ers 20-17 to earn a Super Bowl berth.  Still, 49ers fans and gamblers had a newfound respect for the Niners and Garoppolo.

Despite Jimmy G’s Betting on Super Bowl success, he has often been injured.  He missed large portions of the 2018 and 2020 seasons.  And that served to irritate Kyle Shanahan and management.  Thus, Trey Lance was taken in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.  At the beginning of summer camp, Lance was the number one quarterback.  Garoppolo is likely to be traded.

Of course, the 49ers are making quite a gamble with the Super Bowl betting odds.  Lance is promising but unproven.  He has the mobility that Garoppolo could never offer.  But with that comes the lack of Jimmy G’s success on the field.  Garoppolo had the 49ers within seven minutes of a Super Bowl championship.

San Francisco’s playoff success is a good Super Bowl betting sign for 2022.  If the 49ers can give Lance the same level of support they gave Garoppolo, another Super Bowl run is possible.  Last year the Rams showed how difficult winning a Super Bowl can be.  And how hard it will be for them to repeat.

49ers Enter Season of What If

Perhaps the 49ers should have built around Jimmy Garoppolo for at least another year.  Consider how close they came with him in 2021.  The 49ers blew a fourth-quarter lead to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC championship game.  In fact, the Rams didn’t take the lead until 1:46 remained.  Two years after drafting Trey Lance, the 49ers’ situation is confused.

The 49ers went to an NFC championship game with Garoppolo.  Yet the best bet on the board in the offseason was that he’d be traded.  When you give up a fortune to draft a quarterback third overall, he’s not staying off the field for multiple years.  It was highly unusual Lance sat most of last season.  But the 49ers never got that trade done in the offseason.

Consider that Garoppolo underwent shoulder surgery.  And that might have scared teams a bit.  Teams with quarterback needs ended up settling on players like Marcus Mariota, Mitchell Trubisky, and Drew Lock.  There weren’t any interested suitors left.  The 49ers had a quarterback with a $24.2 million salary.  And there was no spot for him on their roster with no chance to trade him anywhere else.

Of great concern is that the 49ers barely missed going to a Super Bowl with Garoppolo.  Further, Lance might not be any good.  Lance is the ultimate great unknown.  Gamblers and fans wonder what happens if Lance flops.  There could be a temptation to keep Garoppolo. Lance could struggle in camp or early in the season.  Then again, Lance could struggle because he has Garoppolo over his shoulder.  At least at the start of camp.
