Super Bowl LVI – Rams Open as Favorite Over Upstart Bengals

Super Bowl LVI – Rams Open as Favorite Over Upstart Bengals

At the beginning of the week, gamblers bet the Los Angeles Rams up to Super Bowl best favorites over the Cincinnati Bengals.  Both teams are coming off impressive runs to Super Bowl LVI.  But the Rams were in the Super Bowl three years ago.  Additionally, Los Angeles has been a perennial NFL Playoff team.  Cincinnati emerged this season out of nowhere.  Certainly, nobody saw the Bengals coming in the summer’s futures market.  Strong coaching from Zac Taylor and great quarterbacking from Joe Burrow was the difference.  Gamblers can find good reasons to take either team for February 13’s showdown.

Super Bowl LVI CashBet Odds Analysis

On this occasion, the Rams are an understandable Bitcoin Sportsbook favorite.  Los Angeles has made the NFL Playoffs in four of the past five seasons.  And was a Betting on Super Bowl participant against the New England Patriots in the 2018 season.  As a result, the betting public equates the Rams with success and excellence.  Three years ago, Rams coach Sean McVay was touted as the man that would reinvent football.  McVay’s star is on the rise again with his second NFC championship.  Such accomplishments get burned into the hard drive of the betting public.

By contrast, the Bengals have been out of sight and out of mind with the Super Bowl betting odds.  Gamblers involved in Cincinnati games were doing so on a go-against basis.  But sharps observed how well the Bengals have drafted over the past couple of seasons.  First pick in the 2020 NFL Draft was quarterback Joe Burrow.  Following a lost 2020 campaign due to injury, Burrow was forgotten.  Now gamblers see Burrow as the next big thing at the quarterback position.

Perhaps the biggest credibility gained by Cincinnati was their AFC Championship Game win at Kansas City.  Consider that the Bengals trailed the Chiefs 20-3.  At that point, nobody saw Cincinnati as a Super Bowl betting finalist.  Yet at the NFL’s toughest venue, Arrowhead Stadium, the Bengals took over the game to pull off the upset.

The Rams are more of a public team than the Bengals with all of this in mind.  Casuals are more comfortable with the Rams.  In comparison, Sharps are impressed with a capable Bengals team at plus money and points.

However, the one factor that may be totally overrated is the Rams’ “home field.”  It is true that the Super Bowl is played at the Rams home stadium.  But ticket distribution goes to both teams, and most fans are corporate types with no rooting interest for either side.  Last week the Rams saw as many 49ers’ fans in the stands as LA backers.

A Quick Look at the Los Angeles Rams

Los Angeles covered two of its three NFL gambling playoff matchups.  But they did not get the money in their 20-17 NFC Championship Game against the 49ers as 3.5-point chalk.  Naturally, Matthew Stafford has emerged as the biggest asset on the team.  But Stafford hasn’t done it alone.  Wide receiver Cooper Kupp has emerged as the best at that position in the NFL.

Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles had to show courage to gain victory.  Both games could have easily been lost, but the Rams found the extra gear when it mattered most.

A Quick Look at the Cincinnati Bengals

To summarize, the Bengals covered all three of their postseason games and seven straight overall.  Like the Rams, Cincinnati showed remarkable courage in winning their three playoff games.  All three matchups could have been lost.  Also, the Bengals won road games at #1-seed Tennessee and then at the defending AFC champions Kansas City Chiefs.  The Bengals are new, young, and fearless.
