At the beginning of camp, Trubisky was the number one quarterback.  But that was not in cement.  Rudolph has experience as a starter.  And then there is Pickett, the people’s choice.

Now that Ben Roethlisberger is gone, it is easier for everyone to admit the truth.  Roethlisberger was holding the team back for the past two years.  He was slow and lost arm strength.  Compared to that is Kenny Pickett, the 2021 Heisman Trophy finalist.  Last year Pickett led the Pitt Panthers to the ACC championship.  Thus, local fans want nothing to do with Trubisky, who is seen as a failed NFL quarterback.
