Patriots Ride Momentum Home for Bears on Monday Night

Bears vs. Patriots CashBet Wagering Analysis

Certainly, the Bears are a betting on NFL work in progress.  Rookie head coach Matt Eberflus inherited a roster in a full rebuild. Second year quarterback Justin Fields is learning on the fly without much help.  There will be a lot of growing pains for the Bears this season.  By contrast, the Patriots took a big step forward last year.  Then-rookie QB Mac Jones took them to the playoffs.  But Jones has been in and out of the lineup in 2022.  Fortunately, they have a capable backup to spark them.

New England will draw most of the Top online Sportsbook casual money as the name-brand home favorite.  At the same time, the Bears will rate consideration from Wise Guys and bargain hunters as a fighting road dog.  New England occasionally burns gamblers.  But not enough to oppose them at home with a rebuilding team.

Bear Market for Chicago

Last game, the Chicago Bears lost 12-7 to the Washington Commanders as 1-point home dogs.  The game went under the Betting on football total of 38.5.  Chicago has a record of 2-4 straight up, 2-3-1 against the spread, and 2-4 over/under the total.  Chicago ranks 28th for total offense, 32nd for passing, 2nd for rushing, and 31st for scoring.  Defensively they rank 16th overall, 4th against the pass, 29th against the rush, and 12th for points allowed.  Also, Chicago ranks 27th for turnovers lost and 15th for takeaways

Christian Holmes recovered a muffed punt by Velus Jones deep in Chicago territory.  Subsequently, that set up a 1-yard touchdown by Brian Robinson midway through the fourth quarter.  The Commanders stopped a four-game losing streak, hanging on to beat the Bears.

Late on, Justin Fields broke off a 39-yard run to the 5.  But after blowing two big scoring chances in the first half, the Bears let another slip away.  Fields, whose left shoulder was bothering him, completed 14 of 27 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown.

Previously, Fields threw a 40-yard touchdown to Dante Pettis in the third.  But Allen intercepted him with the ball on the Washington 5 late in the first quarter.  Also, Fields ran for 88 yards.

Specifically, the win was the 324th for coach Bill Belichick.  That ties George Halas for second on the NFL’s career list.

Zappe threw second-half TD passes to Tyquan Thornton and Hunter Henry.  Overall, he finished 24 of 34 passing.  Last week he threw for 188 yards and a touchdown in his first start, a 29-0 win over Detroit.
