NFL Week 2 Betting: Chiefs vs. Chargers Odds, Predictions and Overview

Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers NFL Betting Preview and Odds

Last week the Chiefs reminded everyone of their Super Bowl greatness.  Kansas City is likely to be an improved NFL betting value this year.  And stands a solid shot of becoming the first repeat champion since 2004.  Namely, Clyde Edwards Helaire is the running back that was missing in 2019.  He is the final piece of the puzzle to an offense that was already lethal.  Los Angeles Chargers backers escaped by a whisker last week.  Cincinnati kicker Randy Bullock suffered a leg cramp on a game-winning 31-yard field goal attempt.  LA will still take it!

Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers CashBet Wagering Analysis

At the onset, gamblers bet the online sportsbook up 3.5-points on the Chiefs.  Kansas City’s week one performance makes that an easy sell.  And LA’s Tyrod Taylor is no match for Patrick Mahomes at quarterback.  Of course, the Chiefs are vastly superior.  Of great concern, this season is a flood of square money.  Prices on KC will be consistently inflated. Contrarily the Chargers have little appeal with the masses.  Los Angeles is a semi-rebuilding team that lacks star power.  Head coach Anthony Lynn will be fortunate to survive the season.  LA’s defense will have to carry the burden.

Chiefs Look Super After Big Opening Payout

Last week the Chiefs were 9.5-point betting on NFL Favorites.  Kansas City got the cash in a 34-20 home win over the Texans.  Rookie running back Clyde Edwards Helaire ran for 138 yards on 25 carries with a touchdown.  Most important of all Helaire will keep defenses honest in 2020.  All World quarterback Patrick Mahomes was 24 of 32 for 211 yards passing with three touchdowns.  To be exact the Chiefs showed all strength and no weakness.  Further defensive tackle Chris Jones had four tackles with 1.5 sacks.

Lightning Bolts Strike for Week One Win

Account of a 16-13 win as 2.5-point favorites at Cincinnati gave the Chargers a cover.  Los Angeles enjoyed a 362-295 pro football betting advantage for total yards.  New quarterback Tyrod Taylor was 16 of 30 for 208 yards. It was not a performance that inspires confidence.  On the other hand, Taylor didn’t make critical mistakes.  Defensive end Joey Bosa had five tackles and a sack.

Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers Against the Spread

Late on the Chiefs have paid in seven of their last 11 as road chalks.  Four of their last six in that role went under the football betting total.  In September away games KC is 12-3 on the board.  Eight of their last 11 September road tilts went over.  At AFC West rivals the Chiefs are a stunning 17-3 versus the odds.  Four of their last five at the AFC West went under.

As a home dog, the Chargers are 3-11 against the spread.  LA has gone under in 12 of their last 15 as home pups.  LA is 0-5-1 on the board in home September games.  Nine of their last 14 in that situation went over.  When hosting the AFC West LA is 4-15 with the number.  While 15 of their last 18 division home games went under.

Head to head the Chiefs have covered seven straight away games at the Chargers.  Four of their last six in that place went under.  Overall KC has covered 10 of their last 13 with the Chargers.  Five of the last eight between these teams went over.

As was previously noted the Chiefs own the Chargers.  And have ruled the cashier’s cage in NFL gambling division road games.  Finally, Los Angeles is a terrible home dog.
