Falcons vs. Cowboys Betting NFL Week 2 Odds, TV Schedule and Predictions

Atlanta Falcons at Dallas Cowboys NFL Betting and Odds

Mike McCarthy’s arrival as new Cowboys coach was heralded for gravitas.  Cause by McCarthy winning a Super Bowl at Green Bay.  And having the Pack in playoff contention for over a decade.  Thus, Sunday’s loss at the Los Angeles Rams was a major disappointment.  McCarthy did not help his NFL betting cause.  Instead of taking a sure field goal, he gambled on a fourth and three.  And lost.  “Welcome back to the NFL.!”  Meanwhile, Atlanta was making noise about a playoff run.  Visiting Seattle slapped that down in dominant fashion.  Defense remains a missing Falcons element.

Atlanta Falcons at Dallas Cowboys CashBet Wagering Analysis

At the beginning, Dallas opened as 7.5-point chalk.  But the public quickly bet Atlanta down to five.  Disappointment in the Cowboys week one loss at the Rams has much to do with that move.  Normally there aren’t such sportsbook moves against the Cowboys.  Especially towards a team like the Falcons.  Atlanta has been on the decline for the past three years.  And their opening day home loss to Seattle was even worse.  Squares seem to be at a loss.  Sharps may give the Cowboys a decent look based on superior defense.  Above all few teams are as public as Dallas.

More of the Same for Falcons

Last week Atlanta was a one-point betting on NFL favorite over the Seahawks.  But the Seahawks wasted no time in taking control of a 38-25 win and cover.  Over a total of 45.5 paid as well.  Namely, Russell Wilson lit up the Falcons for 322 yards passing and four touchdowns.  Atlanta was frustrated in that they outgained the Seahawks 506-383.  However, the Falcons turnover margin was a costly -2.  Coach Dan Quinn barely escaped the firing squad last year.  He is right back on the hot seat after one week.  Attributing the loss to Wilson doesn’t suffice.

New Coach but Same Cowboys

First-week excitement was over the top for Dallas.  Squares bet the Cowboys up to one-point pro football betting road chalks.  But Dallas failed to deliver in a 20-17 loss.  Under the total easily paid at 52.  Overall McCarthy felt his defense was on the field too much.  LA’s 35:38 time of possession supports that claim.  Of great concern was the Cowboys 3-12 on third downs.  Compared to 9-17 by the Rams.

Atlanta Falcons at Dallas Cowboys Against the Spread

Late on the Falcons are 6-9 on the board as football betting road dogs.  Four of their last six in that role went over.  In September road action Atlanta is 5-8 against the spread.  While five of their last eight September away games went over.  At the NFC East, the Falcons are 5-4 versus the odds.  And then seven of their last 10 at the NFC East stayed under.

Dallas has covered two of its last eight hosting NFC South teams.  And then six of their last 10 in that place went over.  September home games have the Cowboys 8-4-1 on the board.  Four of their last seven September home games went under.  Specifically, as home chalk, Dallas is 4-8 against the spread. Four of their last six as home favorites went over.

Overall, the Falcons have covered five of their last eight against Dallas.  Three of the last four in this series stayed under.  So too as Atlanta covered five of their last eight at Dallas.  Six of the last seven between these teams at Dallas went over.

In this situation, the Falcons are a live NFL gambling dog.  Of the two games last week the Falcons were more impressive.  Again, the Cowboys are overrated.
