Falcons Host Bucs on Sunday in Regular Season Finale

Buccaneers vs. Falcons CashBet Wagering Analysis

It has been another betting on NFL season of failure for the Atlanta Falcons.  And it mercifully will come to an end this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Atlanta has not made the playoffs since 2017 and could not take advantage of a weak NFC South division.  Tom Brady and the Buccaneers won the NFC South partially by default.  But the GOAT must be credited for rallying the Buccaneers to a stirring comeback win over the Carolina Panthers last week.  In turn, Atlanta will focus on its future with head coach Arthur Smith and the 2023 NFL Draft.

Buccaneers vs. Falcons CashBet Wagering Analysis

Atlanta will be a difficult sell to casual gamblers for obvious reasons.  The Falcons are again bringing up the rear of the NFC South and have been a terrible value in the stretch run.  Tampa Bay and Tom Brady are marquee brands that will draw the masses.  But the Bucs will likely be resting key players for the upcoming playoffs.  Hence the strange price of Atlanta as an 8-point top online sportsbook chalk.

Buccaneers Clinch NFC South and Will Rest Players

Last game, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won 30-24 against the Carolina Panthers as 3.5-point home favorites.  The game went over the Betting on football total of 41.  Tampa Bay has a record of 8-8 straight up, 4-11-1 against the spread, and 5-11 over/under the total.  Tampa Bay ranks 12th for total offense, 2nd for passing, 32nd for rushing, and 24th for scoring.  While defensively, they rank 7th overall, 8th against the pass, 15th against the rush, and 8th for points allowed.  Also, Tampa Bay ranks 16th for the fewest turnovers lost and 19th for takeaways.

In sum, Tom Brady threw for 432 yards and three long touchdowns to Mike Evans.  The Bucs erased a double-digit, fourth-quarter deficit for the second week in a row.  Tampa Bay clinched its second straight NFC South championship with a victory over the Panthers on Sunday.

Evans finished with ten catches for 207 yards, scoring on receptions of 63, 57, and 30 yards.  Hence he became the first player in NFL history to begin a career with nine consecutive seasons with 1,000-plus yards receiving.

Falcons Fly South for the Winter Again

Last game, the Atlanta Falcons won 20-19 against the Arizona Cardinals as 7-point home favorites.  The game went under the NFL bets total of 40.  Atlanta has a record of 6-10 straight up, 8-8 against the spread, and 6-10 over/under the total.  Atlanta ranks 25th for total offense, 31st for passing, 3rd for rushing, and 19th for scoring.  While defensively, they rank 29th overall, 26th against the pass, 24th against the rush, and 23rd for points allowed.  Also, Atlanta ranks 13th for fewest turnovers lost and 23rd for takeaways.

Desmond Ridder Ridder helped set up Younghoe Koo’s 21-yard field goal on the final play.  Hence that lifted the Falcons over the Cardinals on Sunday to end a four-game skid.  In a matchup of teams eliminated from playoff contention, Ridder was 19 of 26 for 169 yards and no interceptions.  It was his third start as he auditions for a starting job next season.

The Cardinals played with their fourth starting quarterback in four weeks.  Late on, Arizona has lost six straight and eight of nine.  David Blough completed 22 of 40 passes for 222 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions.

Ridder drove Atlanta 72 yards in 12 plays in the final five minutes of the fourth quarter.  And then, the Falcons reached the red zone with 1:49 to play and ticked down the clock to set up Koo’s game-ending kick.  Tyler Allgeier and Patterson combined for 125 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 29 carries.
