Chargers vs. Chiefs CashBet Wagering Analysis

For this sportsbook odds matchup, gamblers are treated to two of the top teams in the AFC West.  Also, the Chiefs and Chargers are betting favorites to make the AFC championship game.   Naturally, Los Angeles will draw plenty of sharp money as a quality road dog.  The Chargers have the potential to bring strong wagering value.  But the Chiefs will command plenty of support as well.  Patrick Mahomes and GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium are hard for gamblers to ignore.

Gamblers Say “Charge It” with Los Angeles

In week one, the Chargers beat the Raiders 24-19 as 3.5-point home favorites.  Also, the game went under the total of 52.  Los Angeles is 1-0 straight up and against the spread with 0-1 under the Betting on football total.

Justin Herbert won’t mind getting equal billing with Khalil Mack if it keeps producing wins.  Herbert had the 13th three-touchdown pass game of his young, prolific career.  At the same time, Mack had three sacks in his Chargers debut as Los Angeles beat the Raiders on Sunday.

All three of Herbert’s TDs were caught by players making their Charger debut.  Following a busy offseason, the defense also got contributions from newcomers.  General manager Tom Telesco and coach Brandon Staley focused on defensive improvement.  In addition to Mack, free-agent signing Bryce Callahan picked off Derek Carr in the fourth quarter.

Overall, Carr was 22 of 37 for 295 yards and two touchdowns but was picked off three times.  He connected ten times with former Fresno State teammate Davante Adams.  Adams was acquired from Green Bay in the offseason.  Adams had 141 receiving yards.  Including a 2-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Herbert had a 129.4 passer rating.  Despite Keenan Allen leaving with a hamstring injury in the first half.  And Mike Williams not having a catch until the fourth quarter.  Herbert completed passes to nine players.  Since 2007, the Chargers had six sacks and three interceptions in an opener for the first time.  And it was Mack’s second three-sack game of his nine-year career.

Mahomes Returns to Status as Chief of Quarterbacks

In the season opener, the Chiefs routed the Cardinals 44-21 as 6-point road favorites. In comparison, the game went over the total of 54.  Kansas City is 1-0 straight up and against the spread with 1-0 over the NFL bets total.

Patrick Mahomes threw for 360 yards and five touchdowns.  At the same time, Clyde Edwards-Helaire caught two touchdown passes.  And the Chiefs rolled impressively over the Cardinals.  Tight end Travis Kelce caught eight passes for 121 yards and a touchdown.  Correlate, it was his 30th career game with at least 100 yards receiving.  Kansas City outgained Arizona 488 yards to 282.  In turn, Mahomes completed 30 of 39 passes.

At the beginning, Mahomes was picking apart the Cardinals’ defense.  The quarterback was playing his first NFL game against Kliff Kingsbury.  Of course, Kingsbury coached Mahomes in college at Texas Tech and now leads the Cardinals.
