Browns Host Steelers Thursday Night Football Betting Analysis and Odds

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cleveland Browns Betting Odds

Last week the Browns and Steelers suffered painful betting on NFL losses.  That makes Thursday night’s PRIME VIDEO showdown at Cleveland all the more important.  The Browns at Steelers have been tied at the hip for decades.  In fact, during the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, they agreed to the AFC if they could come together.  Now Pittsburgh and Cleveland meet in a virtual must-win game.  These days the Steelers and Browns are striving to win what looks like a highly competitive AFC North Division.  So too are the division rival Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals.

Steelers vs. Browns CashBet Wagering Analysis

Sharps will likely consider the Steelers first as a quality away team that will get a better sportsbook odds price than at home.  Squares will lean to the Browns at home.  However, there will also be casual money on the highly popular Steelers.  Pittsburgh has one of the NFL’s biggest and most generational fan bases.

Steelers Show Rust Last Week Against Patriots

Last game, the Steelers lost 17-14 against the Patriots as 3-point dogs.  The game went under the sportsbook odds total of 40.5.  Pittsburgh has a record of 1-1 straight up, 1-0-1 against the spread, and 0-2 over/under the total.

New England QB Mac Jones threw for 253 yards in the game.  Including a 44-yard heave to a leaping Agholor that gave the Patriots a 10-3 lead at the break.  The defense forced a pair of three-and-outs in the fourth quarter.  After the Steelers had drawn within three points.  And the special teams took advantage of a miscue by Pittsburgh punt returner Gunner Olszewski.  Specifically, Olszewski’s muff helped New England celebrate owner Robert Kraft’s 500th game with a win

Pittsburgh QB Mitch Trubisky threw for 168 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Steelers.  However, their offense sputtered for long stretches as it struggled to find any sense of rhythm.

Trubisky hit Pat Freiermuth for a 7-yard touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter to draw the Steelers within three.  As a result, that briefly quieted the chants for rookie backup quarterback Kenny Pickett.  But those cheers don’t figure to go away anytime soon.

In sum, the Steelers finished with just 243 yards of total offense.  New England made it a point to take away the deep passing game.  A steady pass rush and some hesitancy by Trubisky to test the New England secondary prevented momentum.

Brown Out vs. End by Cleveland

Last game, the Browns lost 31-30 against the Jets as 6.5-point favorites.  The game went over the Betting on football total of 38.5.  Cleveland has a record of 1-1 straight up, 1-1 against the spread, and 2-0 over/under the total.

Everything was stacked against the Jets.  But New York had Joe Flacco.  And they rose from the NFL bets dead.  To show, Flacco fired a 15-yard touchdown pass to rookie Garrett Wilson with 22 seconds left as the Jets rallied for an improbable 31-30 win.  Consider that Cleveland blew a two-touchdown lead in the final two minutes Sunday.

Nick Chubb’s third rushing TD put Cleveland up 13 with 1:55 to go.  But the Browns bemoaned not having him stay in bounds and killing more time after the Jets called their last timeout with 2:09 remaining.

And then, leading 30-17, Cleveland’s defense had a major breakdown.  Corey Davis got behind the secondary, and Flacco hit him with a 66-yard TD to pull the Jets within 30-24 to give them their chance.

Cleveland QB Jacoby Brissett threw a TD pass to Amari Cooper.  Overall, Brissett finished 22 of 27 for 229 yards.

In this situation, the Browns have the better offense.  Cleveland’s ability to score should be the difference with the NFL Betting odds.
