Since 1860 The Open Championship has been one of the most prestigious events in sports.  For gamblers and fans, The Open Championship is one of the four major tournaments held annually.  The Open Championship rotates to different courses in the United Kingdom each year.  Specifically, the Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland, is the Golf Betting Lines venue for 2022.  Collin Morikawa was the winner at Royal St. George’s last year.  In sum, the prize fund is $14 million.  The course is a par 72 and 7305 yards.

UK Hero Rory McIlroy Takes the Point

Second on the Official World Golf Ranking belongs to Rory McIlroy.  McIlroy was the Sportsbook odds winner of the 2014 Open Championship.  He has five major championships in his career.  The Northern Ireland native is in good form for this week’s Open Championship.  To illustrate, McIlroy has finished in the top eight in five of his most recent seven events.  He was the recent winner of the RBC Canadian Open.  McIlroy finished second at the Masters Tournament and 5th at the US Open.

Mixed Tells of Jon Rahm

Following a long stint atop the Official World Golf Ranking, Jon Rahm is 3rd heading into the Open Championship.  Last year Rahm won his first and only major at the US Open.  Rahm raised some eyebrows last week with a 55th place finish at the Genesis Scottish Open.  But he was the recent winner of the Mexico Open.

Is Scheffler Cooling Off?

First on the Official World Golf Ranking is Scottie Scheffler.  However, Scheffler is cooling off after going on a rampage with the Golf Betting odds.  Scheffler finished 13th at the Travelers Championship.  Last week he missed the cut at the Genesis Scottish Open.  Scheffler burst on the world scene after his win at the Masters Tournament.  But he has finished outside the top 12 in five of his most recent seven tournaments.

Thomas Brings PGA Championship Credibility

Yet another player to struggle at the Genesis Scottish Open was Justin Thomas.  He missed the cut after finishing 37th at the US Open.  But Thomas is a Golf Betting Lines favorite based on two factors.  He is 7th on the Official World Golf Ranking and won the PGA Championship.  Also, Thomas won the 2017 PGA Championship for two major career titles.

Morikawa Finds Favor With Gamblers

Although he is under the radar with the masses, Collin Morikawa is getting action on the board this week.  Morikawa is 8th on the Official World Golf Ranking.  Last week he missed the cut at the Genesis Scottish Open.  But he was 5th at the US Open and Masters Tournament.  Morikawa won major titles at the 2020 PGA Championship and the 2021 Open Championship.

Fitzpatrick Makes Major Statement

Overall, Matt Fitzpatrick is 10th on the Official World Golf Ranking.  And he is in good form heading into action this week.  Last week Fitzpatrick was 6th at the Genesis Scottish Open.  And he was the winner of the US Open.  It was the first career major title for Fitzpatrick.  He has finished in the top ten in five of his last six tournaments.
