Charles Schwab Challenge Odds and Golf Betting Analysis for PGA this Week

2022 Charles Schwab Challenge Betting Odds

Since its 1946 inception as the Colonial National, the Charlies Schwab Challenge has been a regular part of the Golf betting lines.  There is plenty of history regarding this week’s event.  The late great Ben Hogan won the first two times this event was held.  In fact, Hogan rates as the all-time winner of the Charles Schwab Challenge with five titles.  In recent years, the parity that makes for today’s PGA Tour has been apparent at the Fort Worth Colonial Country Club.  Since 2011, there has been a different champion every year at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Charles Schwab Challenge and PGA Tour Overview

Last year Jason Kokrak was the winner of the Charles Schwab Challenge.  In 2020 Daniel Berger beat the Sportsbook odds for the title.  Kevin Na was the 2019 champion, with Justin Rose winning in 2018.

Last week Justin Thomas won the PGA Championship in a thrilling playoff.  It was a dramatic comeback by Thomas, who was six shots back in the final round.  Mito Pereira seemed to have the PGA Championship in hand but had a Greg Norman-type collapse down the stretch.  Consider that Pereira is the first player in 16 years to blow a major tournament with a 1-shot lead on the final hole.

First place on the FedEx Cup standings belongs to Masters Tournament champion Scottie Scheffler.  Cameron Smith, Sam Burns, Justin Thomas, and Hideki Matsuyama round out the top five.  And then Patrick Cantlay, Max Homa, Tom Hoge, Jon Rahm, and Jordan Spieth complete the top ten.

Justin Thomas Reminds Gamblers of his Greatness

Last week Justin Thomas pulled off an epic clutch performance with the

Golf Betting odds.  Thomas reminded fans and gamblers that he remains one of the best players in the world.  Additionally, Thomas won the PGA Championship in 2017.  Those are the only two major tournament wins in his career.  Thomas was the 2017 FedEx Cup champion.  He was named PGA Player of the Year in 2017 and 2020.  And then he was the PGA Tour leading money winner in 2017 and 2018.

Now Thomas ranks 5th on the Official World Golf Ranking.  Previously Thomas finished 5th at the Byron Nelson.  Thomas finished 8th with the Golf Betting Lines at the Masters Tournament.  His win on Sunday was his first since THE PLAYERS Championship in 2021.

Is Scottie Scheffler Finally Out of Jet Fuel?

First on the Official World Golf Ranking is Scottie Scheffler.  But at the PGA Championship, Scheffler imploded to miss the cut.  Scheffler had won four of his previous six events before the debacle at the PGA Championship.  Of course, Scheffler became prominent with fans and gamblers after winning The Masters Tournament in April.

Spieth Seeks Win in Home State

Namely, Jordan Spieth is a proud Texan and formerly ranked 1st on the Official World Golf Ranking.  Spieth is ranked 9th heading into this week’s action.  Last week he finished 34th at the PGA Championship.  But Spieth finished strong in the two tournaments before that.  He was 2nd at the Byron Nelson and was the winner of the RBC Heritage.

On this occasion, it will be difficult for Justin Thomas to focus after his epic win with the Golf Betting Lines at the PGA Championship.  Jordan Spieth brings plenty of ability and motivation for this weekend.
