At the onset of his arrival, head coach Steve Sarkisian was touted as the final answer for Texas Longhorn football. Texas has struggled after getting mauled in the 2009 national championship game. Alabama showed Texas the College football betting in that matchup. And things have never been the same for either school. Sarkisian is the third head coach after Mack Brown. And he replaced the only man to put Texas in the final national rankings in the past ten seasons. Tom Herman was fired for his eccentric ways. But he produced four consecutive winning seasons and bowl berths.

CashBet Odds Analysis – Texas Longhorns
Last year began with Top online sportsbook anticipation of burnt orange glory. And it ended with a 5-7 record. Sarkisian quickly moved Texas up to 15th in the national polls. But an overtime loss to Oklahoma blew up the season. And a home loss to the Kansas Jayhawks was a humiliation that may never be lived down.
By the end of the campaign, there were calls for Sarkisian’s job. But Texas has already been down that road. Indeed, much of the Texas program’s problem has been cowering to rich donors. Texas held firm to bring Sarkisian back.
Sarkisian did well in the Betting on college football offseason. His recruiting was good. Most important of all, he signed the biggest name player for the 2023 season. Arch Manning was the most coveted quarterbacking recruit for next season. He was wooed by programs such as Georgia and Alabama. But Manning chose Sarkisian and Texas. And that cooled off Sark’s seat considerably. Additionally, Quinn Ewers transferred from Ohio State after picking up a nice NIL check in 2021. All of a sudden, Sark has two NFL-caliber quarterbacks.
It shouldn’t have been a bet on NCAAF shock that Arch Manning decided to take his talents to Austin. In like manner, it shouldn’t have been surprised when Quinn Ewers decided to transfer there from Ohio State. The move to the SEC looks a little less daunting. At least for a moment. Of great concern is that Texas can’t win a Big 12 championship. They have been surpassed by Baylor, Iowa State, and Oklahoma State. Now, do the Longhorns really think they can compete with Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, and the hated Texas A&M?
Of course, the program can be ripped for not going to the Big Ten. But Texas A&M has made recruiting inroads in the SEC. Texas faces the prospect of bashing its tea-sipping head against the SEC wall. Thus, they need the talent in place to win big fast. For 2022 head coach Steve Sarkisian has a slew of Betting on NCAAF all-star talent.
And he’s got the skill guys that could and should be as good as any in the country. Besides playing the Crimson Tide, the 2022 schedule is manageable.
It is true that Texas missed a bowl game in 2021. Last year wasn’t acceptable. Especially after winning the Alamo Bowl two years in a row after taking down Georgia in the 2019 Sugar Bowl.
Consider that Oklahoma is in a rebuild. And the Texas talent level is too good not to demand a special season. On the whole, this is a ten-win Texas team that should at least play for the Big 12 Championship. But Texas has been good enough to play for the Big 12 Championship for several years. Since 2018 the Longhorns haven’t been there. And UT hasn’t won the conference championship game since 2009. But there are enough pieces to change that narrative in 2022.
