Of course, the program can be ripped for not going to the Big Ten.  But Texas A&M has made recruiting inroads in the SEC.  Texas faces the prospect of bashing its tea-sipping head against the SEC wall.  Thus, they need the talent in place to win big fast.  For 2022 head coach Steve Sarkisian has a slew of Betting on NCAAF all-star talent.

And he’s got the skill guys that could and should be as good as any in the country.  Besides playing the Crimson Tide, the 2022 schedule is manageable.

Consider that Oklahoma is in a rebuild.  And the Texas talent level is too good not to demand a special season.  On the whole, this is a ten-win Texas team that should at least play for the Big 12 Championship.  But Texas has been good enough to play for the Big 12 Championship for several years.  Since 2018 the Longhorns haven’t been there.  And UT hasn’t won the conference championship game since 2009.  But there are enough pieces to change that narrative in 2022.
