Kentucky and Auburn Tabbed as SEC Tourney Betting Favorites

2022 SEC Tournament CashBet College Basketball Odds

Last year the Alabama Crimson Tide stormed to national prominence as a new March Madness betting power.  But this season, the Crimson Tide is no longer a surprise.  Casual money has flooded the betting window on Alabama.  And SEC opponents are no longer taking the Crimson Tide lightly.  It has all resulted in a disappointing season for head coach Nate Oats.  Previously Oats was being touted as a national Coach of the Year candidate.  But this year, he has not been able to produce a consistent winner.  Instead, it is Auburn and Kentucky favored in the SEC Tournament.

2022 SEC Tournament Betting Information

When: March 9-13, 2022
Location: Amalie Arena, Tampa, Florida

Kentucky Brings Blue Blood Credentials to SEC Tournament

On the whole, Kentucky finished 25-6 straight up, 14-16-1 against the spread, and 15-16 under the total.  The Wildcats had national metrics of 13th out of 350 teams for scoring offense and 76th for points allowed.  Late on, the Wildcats beat the Online Sportsbook odds in two of their final six games.  Oscar Tshiebwe led Kentucky with 17.3 points and 15.3 rebounds per contest.

Bruce Brings Pearls of Wisdom to Auburn Hoops

Once upon a time, Auburn basketball was less than nothing.  War Eagle fans didn’t care and would become hostile at any conversation about hoops.  But those days are long gone, thanks to head coach Bruce Pearl.  Auburn won the SEC regular-season title and did so with style.

Overall, the Tigers posted a 2022 March Madness Betting record of 27-4 straight up, 19-12 against the spread, and 18-13 over the total.  National metrics show War Eagle 24th for scoring offense and 116th for points allowed.  Jabari Smith led Auburn with 17.1 points per game.  Of great concern was how Auburn lost much of its value down the stretch.  The Tigers got the cash in only two of their final nine games.  Casual interest and money have become too great on the Tigers.

Tennessee Volunteers for March Madness

To summarize, Tennessee brings a bet on the NCAA basketball record of 23-7 straight up, 17-13 against the spread, and 13-17 under the total.  The Volunteers had national metrics of 118th for scoring offense and 33rd for points allowed.  However, Tennessee covered only three of its final seven regular-season games.  Big Orange lacks a go-to scorer and dominant offensive leader.

Arkansas Looks to Go Whole Hog for March Madness

Overall, Arkansas brings a 2022 March Madness betting record of 24-7 straight up, 19-11-1 against the spread, and 18-13 over the total.  Arkansas was one of the hottest teams on the board down the stretch.  To illuminate, the Razorbacks lost only one of their final ten games to the spread.  National metrics show the Hogs 40th for scoring offense and 150th for points allowed.  JD Notae led Arkansas with 18.9 points per game.  In like manner to Bruce Pearl, head coach Eric Musselman has transformed the Hogs.

Aggies Close Strong and Yell for More

Texas A&M finished with five payouts in its final six games.  Four of the Aggies’ last five games went over the total.  As a result, A&M finished 20-11 straight up, 17-13 against the spread, and 20-10 over the total.  Texas A&M brought national metrics of 133rd for scoring offense and 110th for points allowed.  Quenton Jackson led the Aggies with 14.5 points per game.

Bayou Bengals Look for Tournament Prey

On the whole, LSU finished 21-10 straight up, 19-12 against the spread, and 12-19 under the total.  National metrics show the Tigers ranked 129th for scoring offense and 30th for points allowed.  Tari Eason led LSU with 16.9 points per game.
