UFC 276 Betting: Munhoz vs. O’Malley Best Predictions and Game Analysis (Saturday, July 2nd, 2022)

Pedro Munhoz vs. Sean O'Malley

Pedro Munhoz takes on Sean O’Malley in a three-round contest in the bantamweight category. The match serves as the undercard of the UFC 276: Adesanya vs Cannonier world title bout that takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, 10:00 PM ET. The showdown is important for both fighters as they climb the 135-pound rankings. O’Malley, who is ranked number 13 in the UFC bantamweight rankings, stakes his excellent 15-1 win-loss record against the 19-7 veteran Munhoz, who is No9 in the weight class. The Brazilian, however, looks to arrest his two-fight losing skid as he fights O’Malley who is on a three-fight winning streak. MMA betting sites are gearing towards an O’Malley victory, but some are cautious to put their money on the young star due to Munhoz’s jiu-jitsu expertise.

Pedro Munhoz

Thirty-five-year-old Munhoz has had a decorated mixed martial arts career as he fought the likes of former champions Dominick Cruz, Jose Aldo, Frankie Edgar and Cody Garbrandt. He also waged war against former title challenger John Dodson, but he lost via split decision. Despite his excellent fighting resume, his record in the octagon isn’t too impressive as he has lost four of his five matches, which include back-to-back decision losses to Cruz and Aldo. If he wants to rise up the bentamweight rankings, he has to win his matches and beating O’Malley in his next bout will hopefully be the start of something great for the Brazilian, who has won eight of his matches by submission.

Sean O’Malley

O’Malley had an excellent 2021, registering three straight wins to go 15-1. Two of those matches gave him “Performance of the Night” honors and the other was chosen as “Fight of the Night.” He comes into 2022 with a lot of confidence as he steps up in the ring against Munhoz, who only won once in his last five bouts. O’Malley lets his hands do the talking when he is inside the octagon and in those victories against Thomas Almeida, Kris Moutinho and Raulian Paiva last year, all of them came via stoppage.

Overall, Sugar has 11 of his victories via knockout and had one via submission. In his first fight this year, O’Malley’s takedown defense will be tested as he matches up against a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and had been to wars with former UFC champions and contenders. If the American will stop Munhoz’s takedown attempts and settles this standing up, then he will have a better chance of winning.

Munhoz vs. O’Malley Summary

This is a classic jiu-jitsu versus striking encounter that could test the skills of both fighters, especially O’Malley. The young fighter’s skills on the ground will be tested as he steps into the octagon against a tough Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who has been into wars with the best in the business. As for Munhoz, he has to use his ground game expertise against O’Malley to win the showdown. UFC picks and parlays expect O’Malley to win a fast one if he connects early and corners Munhoz. However, if the fight goes to the ground, Munhoz will have a big advantage.
