On the whole, a strong case can be built that almost any quality horse is both a favorite and Sleeper with the Kentucky Derby Lines.  The one surprise at the Kentucky Derby is that there are not a lot of surprises.  And that certainly looks to be the case for the 2022 edition of the Run for the Roses.  To begin with, the greatest horses in the world will show up at Churchill Downs.  The first Saturday in May is a sacred date in the minds of everyone in horse racing.

Taiba Catapults in Status After Santa Anita Triumph  

On the whole, Taiba was not getting much Online Sportsbook attention heading into the Kentucky Derby Prep season.  But all of that changed after Taiba won the Grade-1 San Anita Derby on April 9, 2022.  In that win, Taiba upset the favored Messier.  In only his second career start, Taiba emerged as a serious contender.

Mo Donegal Brings Record of Success and Hall of Fame Trainer

Last time out for Mo Donegal was a win at the Grade-2 Wood Memorial.  It was the third win in four starts for Mo Donegal.  As a result, the colt has emerged as a serious contender with the Kentucky Derby Betting Lines.  Mo Donegal finished third at the Grade-3 Holy Bull on February 5, 2022.  And then, he was the winner at the Grade-2 Remsen on December 4, 2021.

Namely, Todd Pletcher is one of the most respected and accomplished trainers in horse racing.  Pletcher has two career wins at the Kentucky Derby and three at the Belmont Stakes.  He is a 7-time Eclipse Award winner as the Top Trainer.  Additionally, Pletcher is in the United States Racing Hall of Fame.

Smile Happy Running with Consistency

Smile Happy has two wins and two second-place finishes in his four previous starts.  Last time out for Smile Happy was a second-place finish at the Grade-1 Blue Grass Stakes on April 9, 2022.  That followed a second-place run at the Grade-2 Risen Star on February 19, 2022.  Naturally, Smile Happy was best known for his win at the Grade-2 Kentucky Jockey Club on November 27, 2021.  Among many other top races, trainer Kenneth McPeek has won at the Belmont Stakes and Preakness Stakes.

White Abarrio Makes Statement at Florida Derby

It is hard to find a better Kentucky Derby wagering record than White Abarrio’s.  At the beginning is a Grade-1 win at the Florida Derby on April 2, 2022.  It was the fourth win in five starts for White Abarrio.  Previously he was the winner of the Grade-3 Holy Bull on February 5, 2022.

Pletcher Trained Charge It Attracts Bargain Hunters  

Late on for Charge was a second-place win at the Grade-1 Florida Derby on April 2, 2022.  That strong performance has gamblers interested in a potentially good horse at a great price.
