Montreal Canadiens vs. Vegas Golden Knights Odds and Predictions

On the whole, there could be some karma generating in the series between Vegas and Montreal.  When Vegas opened as an astounding -550 favorite to win the series, bettors teased the Gambling Gods.  But the Gods of NHL betting are getting the last laugh.  Vegas faces elimination on Thursday night at Montreal.  What is most shocking is that the Canadiens are doing the Golden Knights as  Vegas did Colorado.  Previously, Vegas rendered the powerful Avalanche helpless in the West Division Final.  Now Montreal is grinding the Golden Knights into desert dust.

Vegas Golden Knights at Montreal Canadiens CashBet Wagering Analysis

It’s understandable why the Golden Knights were a strong favorite entering this series, but the -550 price was ridiculous.  Montreal boasts goaltender Carey Price, who can steal games like few other netminders.  Furthermore, Vegas is being exposed for what was known to be their biggest online sportsbook weakness.  The Golden Knights are not strong down the middle.

Of course, Vegas makes the analytics boys salivate with its puck possession numbers.  But the Golden Knights haven’t been able to finish.  At the onset of this series, gamblers didn’t care.  Now, these same overlay enablers are scrambling to avoid a -550 loss on the series.  Montreal remains the better value.  Les Habs are a proven and capable underdog at home.

Gamblers Seek Golden Parachute from Knight-mare

Late on, Vegas is reeling with three losses in the last four games in this series.  While the Golden Knights have gone over the total in only one of their previous seven tilts.  Vegas ranks 4th best in the NHL Playoffs for fewest goals against and 5th for goal scoring.  Of major concern is a power play that has utterly flopped.  Vegas ranks dead last in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs for power play efficiency.  So too do the Golden Knights rank 12th in the postseason for penalty killing.  Special teams are proving to be a killer to Vegas in this series.

Vegas head coach Pete DeBoer has a tough decision to make for the starting goaltender in Game 6.  Marc Andre Fleury was the Betting on NHL  backbone of the team until this series.  However, he’s lost his last two starts.  Most important of all, The Flower’s Game 3 blunder will go down as one of the biggest in NHL Playoff history.  Robin Lehner was rock solid in Game 4 and is likely to get the call Thursday night.

Montreal Finds Key to Winning Hab-it

Goaltender Carey Price is proving to be the ultimate pro hockey betting asset.  To illustrate, Price boasts a dominant save percentage of .933 with a 2.02 goals against average.  Rookie and 2021 Hobey Baker Award winner Cole Caufield brings a much-needed offensive element to the Canadiens.  Caufield’s speed and skill were previously lacking for the Canadiens.  Caufield can make plays and is a sniper with a bright future.  He starred for Wisconsin in the college ranks and was coveted for his rare offensive skill package.

Montreal ranks 3rd in the 2021 NHL Playoffs for fewest goals allowed but 11th for goals scored.  However, the Canadiens get opportunistic and timely goals that prove to be enough with Price in goal.  Montreal ranks 8th in the postseason for power play efficiency.  First, in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs for penalty killing is proof that Montreal is suffocating the opposition.

On the whole, the Canadiens are not an exciting team to watch.  Owing to their emphasis on defense and goaltending.  Montreal uses its backchecking to create a few offensive chances.  More emphatically, they have frustrated the once-dynamic Golden Knights.  Vegas has no NHL gambling solutions in this series.
