Washington Hosts Giants Thursday Night Football Week 2 Betting

New York Giants vs. Washington Football Team Betting Information

Last year was a heartwarming story for head coach Ron Rivera and the Washington Football Team.  Washington won the NFC East by default.  But they won it nevertheless as Rivera battled cancer.  Despite that NFL best bets success, Washington wasn’t favored on the futures market.  There was a sense that their title was based on a perfect storm that could not be replicated.  By contrast, the New York Giants were seen as a team that could move up in 2021.  As a rookie head coach in 2020, Joe Judge vastly improved Big Blue’s competitive level and defense.

New York Giants at Washington Football Team CashBet Wagering Analysis

Wise Guys see this sportsbook matchup as even between two struggling clubs.  Thus, they will look at the underdog Giants.

A Giant Mountain to Climb

Last week the New York Giants lost to the Denver Broncos 27-13 as 3-point home dogs.  The game went over a total of 42.  New York is 0-1 straight up and against the spread.  And Big Blue is 0-1 under the Betting on Super Bowl number.

Daniel Jones finished 22 of 37 for 253 yards. However, he lost a fumble in the red zone.  Such plays are why Jones remains a vilified figure in New York.   Meanwhile, Giants’ running back Saquon Barkley never got going. The 2018 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year finished with ten carries for 26 yards. His longest run was five yards.

Washington Offense Remains Offensive

Last week Washington lost at home to the Chargers 20-16 as 2.5-point favorites.  The game went under the total of 45.  Washington is 0-1 both straight up and against the spread, with 0-1 under the total.

To illuminate, quarterback Justin Herbert showed why Los Angeles could challenge Kansas City in the AFC West.  Herbert threw for 337 yards and a touchdown.  Further, Herbert and LA were a deadly 14 of 19 on third down.  The teams combined for 14 penalties for 151 yards and three giveaways.

Of great concern, Washington lost veteran starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to a right hip injury. Coach Ron Rivera did not have an update on Fitzpatrick.  Rivera said he hopes to know more about the 38-year-old’s Super Bowl betting odds status later this week.  Backup Taylor Heinicke came in for Fitzpatrick and had some exciting moments against LA.  Heinicke was 11 of 15 for 122 yards and could be Washington’s starter moving forward.  Meanwhile, kicker Dustin Hopkins was good from 30, 43, and 48 and missed from 51 yards.
