At the beginning of the NFL betting season, Minnesota was a hot futures pick. Vikings hype tabbed them as top tier NFC contenders. With 15 picks at the 2020 NFL Draft, the football community praise was unanimous. General manager Rick Spielman bragged about what he called “roster evolution.” Specifically, Spielman remade a defense that was thrashed at San Francisco in the playoffs. Now the script is flipped. Minnesota has only one win. And among the worst defenses in the NFL. Sunday the Vikings host another team in a lost season. In fact, Atlanta fired coach Dan Quinn at 0-5.

Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings CashBet Wagering Analysis
Neither team offers much in the way of online sportsbook appeal. Atlanta may be seen as more motivated with a new coach. Also, it helps the Falcons are getting points. Sharps won’t want to lay points with a failing Minnesota team.
New Coach for Falcons
Last Sunday the Falcons lost to Carolina 23-16 as 2.5-point home favorites. Under the total of 53.5 saw the payout window too. Carolina outgained the Falcons 437 to 369 in yards. Following the loss coach, Dan Quinn was mercifully fired. It was long overdue. Atlanta is 0-5 straight up, 1-4 against the spread, and 3-2 over the total. Offensively the Falcons rank 12th overall and 20th for scoring. Counter to that is a defense ranked 31st overall and for points allowed. Now Raheem Morris is the interim Falcons coach.
Since collapsing in the 2017 Super Bowl Atlanta has betting on NFL reputation for blowing leads. It’s the humiliating label of the franchise identity. In brief, the Falcons have become a national joke for not holding leads. This year Atlanta blew what seemed to be certain wins against Dallas and Chicago. It will take years to get gamblers and fans to forget.
Vikings Changes Make Things Worse
Last week on NBC Sunday Night Football Minnesota lost at Seattle 27-26. Specifically, the Vikings were 6.5-point road dogs with the game going under 54. Minnesota jumped out to a 13-0 halftime lead. So too did they lead 26-21 late in the fourth quarter. But Russell Wilson hit DK Metcalf on a six-yard touchdown pass with 15 seconds to play for Seattle’s win. To exemplify the Seahawks winning drive was 13 plays, 94 yards in 1:42. It’s indicative of Minnesota’s ongoing defensive problems since opening day.
As a result, Minnesota is 1-4 straight up, 3-2 against the spread, and 3-2 over the total. The Vikings have NFL offensive metrics of 17th overall and 15th for scoring. Defensively the Vikings rank 26th overall and 27th for points allowed. Namely coach Mike Zimmer got a raise and extension right before opening day. It was a pro football betting assumption of success. Certainly, Minnesota’s problems are not entirely Zimmer’s fault. But the fact remains the team is sliding back.
Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings Against the Spread
Minnesota has gone over the football betting total in four of their last six home games. In sum, Atlanta has failed to cover their last five meetings with the Vikings. The Falcons and Vikings have gone under the total in seven of their last eight meetings. And then Atlanta has gone over the total in six of their last eight games. The Falcons have paid in five of their last six away games. Atlanta has soared over the total in six of their last nine road tilts.

Minnesota is a questionable NFL gambling favorite. It follows that neither team should be favored. Subsequently, the Falcons should excel with a fresh voice as coach.
