Packers Host Patriots on NFL Betting Week 4

Patriots vs. Packers CashBet Wagering Analysis

Following a week one loss at the Vikings, gamblers wondered if Green Bay’s time was up.  The departure of game-breaking wide receiver Davonte Adams was seen as a disaster.  But Aaron Rodgers and the Packers won the next two games to take the lead in the NFC North.  This week the Packers will host the struggling New England Patriots.  Patriot QB Mac Jones is out with injury.  Thus, veteran backup Brian Hoyer is expected to get the betting on NFL start.  Hoyer will face a strong Packer defense that suffocated Tom Brady and the Bucs last week.

Patriots vs. Packers CashBet Wagering Analysis

Of great concern to casual gamblers is the loss of starting QB Mac Jones.  And that is why the online sportsbook price is so high on Green Bay.  But sharps are concerned that that line is too high.  And that the Packers may be in a letdown spot after their win at Tampa Bay.

Patriot’s Jonesin’ for a Big Mac

Last game, the New England Patriots lost 37-26 against the Baltimore Ravens as 2.5-point home dogs.  The game went over the total of 45.5.  New England has a record of 1-2 straight up, 0-2-1 against the spread, and 1-2 over/under the betting on football total.  New England ranks 10th for total offense, 11th for passing, 13th for rushing, and 25th for scoring.  Defensively they rank 11th overall, 8th against the pass, 19th against the rush, and 22nd for points allowed.  Also, New England ranks 31st for turnovers lost and 22nd for takeaways.

Lamar Jackson threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score to propel Baltimore past New England.  Correlate that Jackson is the first player in the Super Bowl era with three or more passing touchdowns and 100-plus rushing yards in consecutive games.  Meanwhile, the Patriots lost quarterback Mac Jones late in the game to a leg injury that appears serious.

Last week Jackson’s four-touchdown performance wasn’t enough to stop a furious late comeback by Miami.  But this time, Jackson got help from his defense.  To show, Baltimore forced turnovers on three straight fourth-quarter drives by the Patriots.  Also, Justin Tucker added a 56-yard field goal for the Ravens.  It was the 50th of his career from 50 yards or more.

Despite being under pressure for most of the day, Jackson completed 18 of 29 passes for 218 yards with an interception.  He rushed for 107 yards on 11 carries.

Pack Roars Back After Week One Flop

Last game, the Green Bay Packers won 14-12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as 1-point road dogs.  The game went under the total of 42.5.  Green Bay has a record of 2-1 straight up, 2-1 against the spread, and 0-3 over/under the NFL bets total.  Green Bay ranks 12th for total offense, 19th for passing, 9th for rushing, and 27th for scoring.  Defensively they rank 6th overall, 7th against the pass, 18th against the rush, and 6th for points allowed.  Also, Green Bay ranks 20th for turnovers lost and 16th for takeaways.

Overall, Aaron Rodgers threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns.  And the Packers withstood a late rally led by Brady to hold off the Bucs.  Green Bay’s win was in the first meeting between the teams since Tampa Bay won the 2020 NFC championship game at Lambeau Field.

Tampa Bay was held without a touchdown for the second straight week into the fourth quarter.  Finally, Tom Brady got them into the end zone on a 1-yard pass to Russell Gage.  However, Tampa Bay’s bid to force overtime with a 2-point conversion was killed.  First came a delay-of-game penalty.  Subsequently, Brady threw an incomplete pass that Packer linebacker De’Vondre Campbell tipped.
