Jets vs. Patriots CashBet Wagering Analysis

Wise Guys will lean toward the Jets based on their top online sportsbook underdog status in an even game.  New England will get most of the casual support based on the home field.  Also, the Patriots continue to carry cache with coach Bill Belichick.

Jets Flying Under the Radar vs. Vastly Improved Contender

Last game, the New York Jets won 20-17 against the Buffalo Bills as 11-point home dogs.  The game went under the Betting on football total of 46.  New York has a record of 6-3 straight up, 6-3 against the spread, and 3-6 over/under the total.  New York ranks 18th for total offense, 19th for passing, 18th for rushing, and 19th for scoring.  Defensively they rank 7th overall, 9th against the pass, 11th against the rush, and 10th for points allowed.  Also, New York ranks 24th for turnovers lost and 10th for takeaways.

On the whole, the Jets pulled off a picture-perfect comeback.  The defense shut down Josh Allen.  In comparison, Zach Wilson threw a touchdown pass.  And Greg Zuerlein kicked a go-ahead 28-yard field goal with 1:43 remaining to send the Jets into their bye-week break victorious.

With the game tied at 17, the Jets got the ball at their own four and 7:53 left.  And then they hit the ground running.  New York marched downfield to the Bills’ 18 on eight straight running plays.  While draining the clock against a weary Buffalo defense, Wilson connected with Denzel Mims for 12 yards on third-and-5.  But the drive stalled when Damar Hamlin sacked Wilson on third down, and the Jets settled for Zuerlein’s field goal.  Allen got the ball back but couldn’t manage much.

Wilson finished 18 of 25 for 154 yards and a TD pass to James Robinson.  Also, Michael Carter had a 6-yard touchdown run.  But the defense did its job against Allen, intercepting him twice and sacking him five times.  In sum, Allen was 18 of 34 for 205 yards.  Allen was held without a TD pass for the first time since Week 17 last season against Atlanta.  And the INTs by Gardner and Jordan Whitehead.

Patriots Fade in and Out to Frustrate Gamblers

Last game, the New England Patriots won 26-6 against the Indianapolis Colts as 5-point home favorites.  The game went under the NFL bets total of 39.5.  New England has a record of 5-4 straight up, 5-3-1 against the spread, and 4-5 over/under the total.  New England ranks 26th for total offense, 23rd for passing, 17th for rushing, and 14th for scoring.  Defensively they rank 12th overall, 11th against the pass, 19th against the rush, and 7th for points allowed.  Also, New England ranks 29th for turnovers lost and 7th for takeaways.

QB Mac Jones was 20 of 30 for 147 yards.  New England wasn’t great offensively.  However, they took advantage of some decent early field positions to move the ball enough.  New England set up two first-half field goals of 49 yards and 43 yards.  Jonathan Jones returned an interception 17 yards for a touchdown to finish the scoring.
