At the beginning of the season, Cam Newton was a three-week wonder. Pajama boy media members gushed about his comeback. Fans screamed that Newton deserved a contract extension. New England became a Super Bowl best bet. And then gravity set in. We see why NFL teams shied away from Newton. He has poor fundamentals. Defenses easily adjust to his running. Further New England shares much of the blame. Newton has a weak supporting cast. The lack of playmakers is a key reason for Tom Brady’s departure. Newton is now left holding the bag. As are the LA Chargers.

New England Patriots at Los Angeles Chargers CashBet Wagering Analysis
On this occasion, gamblers will be looking hard at Justin Herbert and LA. Chargers coach Anthony Lynn is an online sportsbook favorite to be fired in a moment’s notice. But through all of their misery, Los Angeles has found its quarterback of the future. Counter to that is New England’s uncertainty at the position. Cam Newton is a net-zero at best for the Patriots.
Don’t Count Patriots In or Out
New England was obviously an overrated betting on Super Bowl choice in preseason. Last week the Patriots paid in a 20-17 win over Arizona as 1-point home dogs. Under the total of 51 paid too. Kicker Nick Folk won the game with a 50-yard field goal. Now New England is 5-6 both straight up and against the spread with 4-7 under the total. The Patriots rank 21st for total offense and 27th for scoring. Defensively New England is 16th in the NFL and 12th for points allowed.
Cam Newton has faded fast after a brief hot start. Against the Cardinals, Newton passed for just 84 yards with 2 interceptions.
Looking Ahead with Herbert
At the onset of the season, the Chargers were longshots with the Super Bowl betting odds. And it’s only gotten worse from there. Los Angeles is coming off a 27-17 loss at Buffalo as 4.5-point dogs. Under the total of 51.5 paid too. Now the Chargers are 3-8 straight up, 5-6 vs. the line, and 7-4 over the total. Los Angeles ranks 4th for total offense and 16th for scoring. Defensively the Chargers are 12th in the NFL and 25th for points allowed.
The only sign of hope for LA has been Justin Herbert. To show he brings a 100.9 QB rating with 23 touchdown passes and seven interceptions. At Buffalo, Herbert threw for 316 yards with a touchdown. If not for Herbert that game would have been a blowout. Of course, this has been a horrible Chargers campaign. With Herbert, they have nowhere to go but up. Naturally with the right supporting cast that is.
New England Patriots at Los Angeles Chargers Against the Spread
New England has not shown Super Bowl betting value this season. To illustrate the Patriots are 1-4 against the spread on the road. Five of their last seven away games went over the total. However, New England has covered four of their last six against the Chargers. Los Angeles and the Patriots have gone under the total in their last five meetings.
In like manner, the Chargers are 3-11-1 vs. the odds at home. Six of their last 19 home games stayed under the total. New England has covered their last five away games at the Chargers. Five of the last seven between these teams at the Chargers stayed under.

In this situation, the Patriots lack of offense has put greater pressure on their defense. Herbert is an NFL gambling asset. Look for Los Angeles to prevail thanks to their superstar rookie QB.
