Broncos Bost Colts on Thursday Night PRIME for NFL Week 5 Betting

Colts vs. Broncos CashBet Wagering Analysis

The Colts and Broncos began the betting on NFL season in similar ways.  The most important similarity was that each team had a new veteran quarterback.  Matt Ryan arrived at Indianapolis after rewriting the Falcons record book.  While Russell Wilson led the Seahawks to two Super Bowls, winning one.  However, Indianapolis and Denver stumbled out of the gate with sluggish offenses.  Their sluggish starts have cost them some support in the future market.  The Colts and Broncos will open Week 5 with an attractive Thursday Night matchup.  Of great concern is the importance of this showdown.

Colts vs. Broncos CashBet Wagering Analysis

Denver and Russell Wilson are sportsbook odds sensations in the casual betting sector.  Especially when playing on their home field.  So, expect the squares to flood the betting window with action on the Broncos.  Indianapolis will get its share of sharp support as a potentially solid road dog.  Offsetting that is the lackluster performance of both teams in the early going.

Matt Ryan and Colts Corralled Early

Last game, the Colts lost 24-17 against the Titans as 4.5-point home favorites.  The game went under the total of 43.5.  Indianapolis has a record of 1-2-1 straight up, 1-3 against the spread, and 0-4 over/under the total.  Indianapolis ranks 19th for total offense, 10th for passing, 27th for rushing, and 32nd for scoring.  Defensively they rank 6th overall, 10th against the pass, 6th against the rush, and 14th for points allowed.  Also, Indy ranks 31st for turnovers lost and 31st for takeaways.

Derrick Henry rushed for a season-high 114 yards and one touchdown.  And then watched the Titans’ defense make three late Betting on football stops to preserve a payout.  Since the Tennessee 2021 playoff loss, Henry wasn’t the same.  Yet the Titans followed the familiar script by leaning heavily on Henry early.

Three turnovers and three missed scoring chances over the final 16 minutes were too much for Indy to overcome.  Of great concern is that the Colts have had one win in their past six games.  Indy RB Jonathan Taylor had 20 carries for 42 yards before leaving the game.  In turn, Matt Ryan wound was 27 of 37 with 356 yards, two TD passes, and one interception.

Broncos Busting Too Many Bankrolls

Last game, the Broncos lost 32-23 against the Raiders as 2.5-point road dogs.  The game went over the NFL bets total of 45.  Denver has a record of 2-2 straight up, 1-3 against the spread, and 1-3 over/under the total.  Denver ranks 21st for total offense, 19th for passing, 18th for rushing, and 29th for scoring.  Defensively they rank 4th overall, 5th against the pass, 18th against the rush, and 6th for points allowed.  Also, Denver ranks 9th for turnovers lost and 25th for takeaways.

Raider back Josh Jacobs ran for a career-high 144 yards and two touchdowns.  Additionally, Amik Robertson returned a fumble 68 yards for a score as the Raiders beat the Broncos.  Following three straight one-score losses, the Raiders prevailed for new coach Josh McDaniels.  Maxx Crosby had two of Las Vegas’ three sacks.  And then Robertson had the game-changing play late in the first half.  Denver repeatedly failed to take advantage of good field position.

After getting a 5-yard TD pass from Wilson to Courtland Sutton, the Broncos stalled.  Consider that Denver botched three other chances with prime field position into one field goal.  Most important of all was the fumble by Melvin Gordon III that Robertson returned for the touchdown.

Overall, Wilson was 17 of 25 passes for 237 yards and two TDs.  Also, he ran for a 3-yard TD that cut the Raiders’ lead to 25-23.  Denver scored only once on six drives in the second half.
