Bills Host Slumping Steelers Sunday on NFL Week 5 Betting

Steelers vs. Bills CashBet Wagering Analysis

At the onset of the season, the Steelers started Bears castoff Mitch Trubisky at quarterback.  But everyone knew it would be a short-term plan.  First-round draft pick Kenny Pickett arrived in the spring from Pitt.  He made the 2021 Heisman Trophy final presentation after leading the Panthers to the ACC championship.  Fans screamed for Pickett to start immediately.  But coach Mike Tomlin wanted to buy betting on NFL time.  Finally, Pickett took over during Sunday’s loss to the Jets.  And it was a true welcome to the NFL.  To illuminate, Pickett threw three interceptions.

Steelers vs. Bills CashBet Wagering Analysis

Cause by their terrible Sportsbook start, the Steelers are losing casual money support.  The squares are heading for the tall grass after a 1-3 start.  Pittsburgh has a strong brand reputation.  So they may get some support from bargain hunters looking at those 14 points.  By contrast, the Bills are the hottest brand on the board.  Buffalo opened as the Super Bowl favorite to start the season.  And they have done nothing to scare away the betting public.  Buffalo is the most complete team in the NFL.

Pittsburgh Showing Rusty Steel

Last game, the Steelers lost 24-20 against the Jets as 3-point home favorites.  The game went over the total of 41.5.  Pittsburgh has a record of 1-3 straight up, 1-2-1 against the spread, and 2-2 over/under the Betting on football total.  Pittsburgh ranks 30th for total offense, 27th for passing, 23rd for rushing, and 24th for scoring.  Defensively they rank 24th overall, 20th against the pass, 24th against the rush, and 15th for points allowed.  Also, Pittsburgh ranks 26th for turnovers lost and 6th for takeaways.

Certainly, the Jets put together their second massive comeback on the road in three weeks.  Last month in Cleveland, it was Joe Flacco pulling out an improbable victory in the final seconds.

Wilson finished 18 of 36 for 252 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.  Also, Wilson became the first quarterback in Jets history to catch a touchdown when he hauled in a 2-yard pass from Braxton Berrios in the second quarter.

Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin made a halftime move that long seemed inevitable.  He put Pickett in for the erratic Mitch Trubisky.  Overall, Pickett showed flashes of why Pittsburgh was so high on him.  And he became the first quarterback in NFL history to run for two touchdowns in his first game.

Tomlin declined to announce a starter for next week’s trip to Buffalo.  However, it’s hard to imagine him turning back to Trubisky.  Pickett provided a palpable jolt while completing 10 of 13 passes for 120 yards.

Buffalo Pays the Bills in Dramatic Fashion

Last game, the Bills won 23-20 against the Ravens 23-20 as 3-point road favorites.  The game went under the total of 50. Buffalo has a record of 3-1 straight up, 2-1-1 against the spread, and 1-3 over/under the NFL bets total.  Buffalo ranks 3rd for total offense, 2nd for passing, 12th for rushing, and 5th for scoring.  Defensively they rank 2nd overall, 2nd against the pass, 3rd against the rush, and 2nd for points allowed.  Also, Buffalo ranks 27th for turnovers lost and 7th for takeaways.

Josh Allen and the Bills can deal with nasty weather.  After all, that’s part of the job when you play in Buffalo.  And on a rainy afternoon in Baltimore, Buffalo pulled off their biggest comeback in over a decade.

Buffalo trailed 20-3 late in the second quarter.  It was the largest comeback win for the Bills since they erased a 21-point deficit to beat New England in 2011.  Overall, Allen threw for 213 yards and a touchdown with an interception.
