2022 Arizona Cardinals CashBet Sportsbook Futures Odds & Predictions

On October 24, 2021, the Arizona Cardinals looked like they might be the best team in football.  Following a win over the Houston Texans, they had a Super Bowl-best record of 7-0.  Yet on January 17, the Cardinals were embarrassed in one of the most pathetic playoff performances gamblers saw.  Arizona’s 34-11 loss to the Los Angeles Rams was a fitting end to an end-of-season collapse.  To illustrate, the Cardinals went 4-7 after that 7-0 start.  And as the offseason progressed, a clause in quarterback Kyler Murray’s contract raised eyebrows.  Apparently, Murray doesn’t do enough homework.

2022 Arizona Cardinals – CashBet Odds Analysis

To summarize, Cardinals superstar defensive end JJ Watt admitted that the season was a “massive failure.”  Watt says the Cardinals were capable of far more than what they delivered.  That sportsbook collapse was especially troubling because it was the second straight season Arizona started well and then pulled a disappearing act.

But the offseason brought worse feelings.  Kyler Murray acted like a jilted teenager, scrubbing his social media of all things Cardinals.  There was speculation he was unhappy with the team as he angled for a new contract.  Further, there was word that the team wasn’t thrilled with him, either.  Especially after he wanted to skip out of the final plays of the Rams playoff loss.  Murray denied that the social petulance had nothing to do with the Cardinals.  But that was no sale to many fans and gamblers.

Next, Murray’s agent went on the betting on Super Bowl offensive in March.  He released a statement trying to pressure the Cardinals into getting a long-term deal for Murray.  Finally, that arrived in July with a $230.5 million extension.  At the same time, Arizona did practically nothing in free agency.  While losing key players.  Superstar receiver DeAndre Hopkins has suspended six games for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Additionally, it seemed like the Cardinals were trying to appease their quarterback when they overpaid to make a draft-day trade.  Arizona worked with the Baltimore Ravens to acquire receiver Marquise Brown, Murray’s old college teammate at Oklahoma.  Murray’s Super Bowl betting odds talent is worth the money that Arizona invested.   But injuries have caused a drop in his play in the past two seasons.  Thus, the move is a gamble.

In turn, Kliff Kingsbury is trying to prove he is the head coach who led the Cardinals to that impressive 7-0 start.  Instead of the coach who couldn’t adjust as his team lost seven of its last 11.  Kliff is on the Super Bowl betting hot seat season.  And his best path to success revolves around a quarterback who was drafted first overall and sold as the perfect fit for his scheme.  But the quarterback is coming off a lackluster finish to the 2021 season.

Accordingly, there’s a lot on the line for the Cardinals this season.  They blew a great start to last season.  Instead of good vibes about a playoff berth, it became a “massive failure.”  Now there’s some uncertainty over what happens next.  Some win early in the season would calm things down.  And it would be even better if those wins weren’t followed by crushing losses late in the season.

The big move of the offseason was the trade of a first-round draft pick to the Baltimore Ravens for receiver Marquise Brown and a third-round choice.  That’s not a huge overpay, but Brown hasn’t developed into a great NFL receiver.

Once upon a time, the Cardinals were the best team in the NFL for 2021.  Kyler Murray looked like an MVP candidate.  Kliff Kingsbury was a possible pick for Coach of the Year.  Despite Murray missing three games, the Cardinals were 9-2 going into their bye week.  Then Murray returned, and it suddenly fell apart.
