Account their poor start have the Mets suffered a loss of Betting on MLB appeal.  New York’s pitching has suffered a shocking drop.  These days a strong bullpen is required for a serious contender shot.  More emphatically the Mets have failed to meet expectations.  Many gamblers believe that the 2019 season was an outlier.  Rather than a portent of things to come.  In a similar way are the Nationals not seen as World Series repeat material.  Painful as it is, they may always be known as “accidental champions.”  But against the Mets, the Nationals offer handicappers more.
