Valero Texas Open Serves as Final Masters Tune-Up at CashBet Sportsbook Odds

2023 Valero Texas Open Betting Information and Odds by CashBet Sportsbook

Last year JJ Spaun won the Valero Texas Open to emerging as a one-week wonder.  The Valero Texas Open is not a major Golf betting Lines event.  Especially with the Masters Tournament looming on April 6.  This week, many of the top names in golf will be missing in action.  As a result, the door is left wide open for a lesser-known player to take full advantage and earn a PGA Tour win.  Although many of the best are out, several quality golfers can take the Valero Texas Open championship.

2023 Valero Texas Open CashBet Odds Overview

Three of the previous four weeks on Tour have had big-money designated events.  Next week is the season’s first major at Augusta National.  So that means most of the top players in the Masters field take the week off to rest and prepare.  Only two players in the top 30 of the OWGR were on the best sportsbook online list for the Valero Texas Open.  They are Tyrrell Hatton and Hideki Matsuyama.

But the winner this week gets a Masters invitation if not already eligible.  Indeed, that would describe the vast majority of the field.  Most notable is Rickie Fowler.  To illuminate, Fowler is in after failing to advance far enough at the WGC-Dell Match Play to get within the OWGR top-50 cutoff.  Many fans at the Oaks Course will be pulling for him.  JJ Spaun returns as the defending champion.  Overall, the Valero Texas Open has an $8.9 million purse, with the winner earning $1,548,000.

JJ Spaun Seeks to Defend Title

On the whole, Golf betting odds gamblers normally would mark off a player coming in to defend their first tournament win because of the week’s uniqueness.  Also, the obligations of being a defending champion are often a bit of a distraction.  But many handicappers will give Spaun a pass on that.  Since he showed some really good form during the Match Play and is a guy who seems to run hot or cold with his game.

Wise Guys are very interested in where Spaun’s Golf Betting Lines number is compared to the rest of the field.   Following last year when he blitzed his group early in the week in Austin, he’ll have some confidence.  Especially at a course that he’s comfortable playing.

Matt Wallace Seeks to Match Talent to Moment

Certainly, Wallace has always had the talent.  But he has struggled to find consistency after charging onto the scene in the states earlier in his career.  Wallace has had things headed in the right direction in recent weeks.  And then they culminated in his first win this past weekend.  Specifically, Wallace won the alternate-field event at the Corales Puntacana Championship.

The only downside to that win is that Wallace doesn’t get the qualifier into Augusta.  So, he must tee it up again this week and win his second consecutive start to end up on Magnolia Lane.  Wallace has some history here at the Valero, where he finished third in 2021.  Thus, gamblers hope he can continue to ride that hot play this week.

Hatton Understandable Chalk

It is true that Tyrell Hatton rates as the top player in the tournament.  He is 17th on the Official World Golf Ranking.  Late on, Hatton finished 6th or better in three of his last five events.
