Rahm and Scheffler Favored for This Week’s 2023 PGA Championship

Now Justin Thomas defends his PGA title at Oak Hill Country Club in New York State with Masters champion Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy among the challengers.  The PGA Championship marks the year’s second men’s major, beginning on Thursday, 18 May.  This will be the fourth time that Oak Hill is staging the PGA.   Previously, Golf Betting Lines winners were Jack Nicklaus (1980), Shaun Micheel (2003), and Jason Dufner (2013).  The course was almost entirely remodeled in 2019.  However, accuracy off the tee remains important, with deep fairway bunkers and thick rough waiting for stray drives.

Patrick Cantlay brings a new caddie.  Namely, Joe LaCava is back on his bag this week for their first major together.  Last week, LaCava caddied for world No. 1 Nelly Korda on the LPGA Tour.  Concurrently, Cantlay is seventh in the FedExCup.  That is the highest-ranked player without a win this season.  Cantlay has top-10s in half of his 12 starts.

Also, Xander Schauffele is seeking his first win of 202., He is one spot behind Cantlay in the FedExCup. Schauffele arrives at Oak Hill after five consecutive top-10s.  Including three in a row in the top four.
