The 2021 season began in a nightmare but ended in a dream for the Utah Utes. At the onset of the 2021 campaign was the tragic shooting death of Aaron Lowe. Previously his Utah teammate Ty Jordan was killed in an accidental shooting in 2020. This could have been a College football betting blow to most programs. Instead, Utah used it as motivational fuel. The relatives of the fallen players were brought into the football family. It became an inspirational story for the entire country. And it ended in a Pac-12 title and Rose Bowl berth.

CashBet Odds Analysis – 2022 Utah Utes
On New Year’s Day 2022, it seemed like the entire state of Utah was in Pasadena. The Utah Utes were in their first top online sportsbook Rose Bowl. First-time Rose Bowl teams go down as legends in their locale. And that was the case for the Utes. Utah lost a thrilling Rose Bowl to Ohio State 48-45. But that did not take away the glow of a dream season.
Previously the Utes had mauled the Oregon Ducks 38-10 in the Pac-12 championship game. Head coach Kyle Whittingham enters his 18th season as the GOAT of Utah football coaches.
At the beginning of his betting on college football career, Whittingham followed an instant legend. In 2004 Urban Meyer led the Utes to a 12-0 season and a final national ranking of 4th. Thus, Whittingham had some huge shoes to fill. And he did. In his fourth season, Whittingham led Utah to a 13-0 record and a final national ranking of 2nd. Most important of all, Whittingham made the Utah program attractive enough to get a promotion to the Pac-12 Conference. But the status of the Pac-12 has fallen into peril.
Conference Realignment Strikes Utah
As conference media days opened in July, bet on NCAAF thunder struck again. In 2021 Oklahoma and Texas caused a summer storm by announcing they were leaving the Big 12 Conference for the SEC. USC and UCLA caused an earthquake this year by announcing they were leaving the Pac-12 for the Big Ten.
With the announcement of the departure of the Pac-12 LA brands, Utah’s future is up in the air. It is true that the Utes are a strong and consistent winner. On the other hand, they are not a national power TV brand. Sadly, that is all that the current powers that be care about.
Of course, Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff is saying all of the “right things.” He vows the Pac-12 will fight on, as the USC chant goes. But the reality is that the rest of his conference members all want out. Oregon and Washington are begging the Big Ten for Betting on NCAAF membership. Stanford and Cal have the large but fickle San Francisco market to tout. While Colorado, Arizona, and Arizona State may be Big 12 bound.
Namely, Oregon and Utah have been the two power players in the Pac-12 over the last four seasons. Utah pivoted a bit a few years ago to add more of a downfield passing game. And that tweak coincided with USC being down and the rest of the Pac-12 South struggling. As a result, it all fit in perfectly with the brutal style of the toughest team in the Pac-12.
Indeed, the Utes continue to put together great lines, great defenses, and running games annually under Whittingham. And nothing about that is different for this season. Thus, if Utah remains in the Pac-12, it’s still strong enough to expect Pac-12 Championship appearances. Including this season.
