Upset Alert for Clemson vs. Wake Forest on Saturday?

Clemson Tigers vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons Betting Odds by CashBet Sportsbook

The Clemson Tigers are still adjusting to new offensive and defensive coordinators.  Previously this month, head coach Dabo Swinney inked a big raise and extension to stay with the program he built into a national power.  But a tricky road NCAAF bets matchup comes this week at the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Wake Forest made the ACC championship game last year.  Additionally, they have most of their key personnel back.  Deacs head coach Dave Clawson has done the impossible in making the program a regular bowl participant and ACC title contender.

Clemson vs. Wake Forest CashBet Wagering Analysis

Clemson is one of the most respected best sportsbook online programs on the board.  And they often command overlay prices based on that popularity.  Wake Forest could not be more of an opposite program.  Casuals ignore the Demon Deacons.  But sharps love Wake Forest for that reason, in addition to the program being of quality.

Clemson Off Methodical Yet Dominant Win

Last week, the Clemson Tigers won 48-20 against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs as 33.5-point favorites.  The game went over the Betting on College Football total of 53.  Clemson has a record of 3-0 straight up, 1-2 against the spread, and 1-2 over/under the total.

Will Shipley added two TDs on Saturday.  Additionally, he had a career-high 139 yards rushing.  And the fifth-ranked Tigers’ won but failed to pay against Louisiana Tech.  Now Shipley has six scores this season, two in each game.  Clemson needed Shipley’s burst and power to pull away from the Bulldogs.  Clemson got its ninth straight win and 36th in a row at home over the past seven seasons.  Still, it took until the second half for the attack to get going.

Clemson, up just 13-6 at the break, took advantage of two Parker McNeil interceptions.  And then a fourth-down stop on Louisiana Tech’s desperate gamble to stay in contention.  Clemson linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. picked off McNeil on the Tech 32.  Subsequently, Shipley took the next snap into the end zone.  Next series, Tigers cornerback Malcolm Greene intercepted McNeil after the Bulldogs reached the red zone.  DJ Uiagalelei moved Clemson 90 yards in 14 plays, ending on Phil Mafah’s 4-yard TD run.

Shipley had a 2-yard touchdown in the opening half.  And he became the first Clemson player since 1950 with two or more TDs in each of the first three games of a season.

Clemson Yards and TD’s

Overall, Clemson’s Uiagalelei passed for 221 yards and two TDs.  Also, he rushed for 62 yards.  Still, the Tigers have plenty to clean up.  Their receivers had trouble getting separation.  Especially in the first half.  But Clemson will be in most games with Shipley and Uiagalelei controlling things on the ground.  This week’s game with Wake Forest will give a better read on both programs.

Wake Forest Survives Call for Liberty

Last Saturday, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons escaped 37-36 against the Liberty Flames as 17-point favorites.  The game went over the bet on NCAAF total of 64.  Wake Forest has a record of 3-0 straight up, 2-1 against the spread, and 2-1 over/under the total.

Liberty scored with 1:11 left, but No. 19 Wake Forest stopped CJ Yarbrough’s two-point conversion attempt for a tight escape.  Of great concern was that the Demon Deacons’ ground game was ineffective.  The Deacs had negative 21 rushing yards on 26 attempts.  So they turned to defense and a passing game.

Namely, Sam Hartman threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions.  Hartman became the career passing leader for Wake Forest with more than 9,700 yards.
