The Big 12 Conference has long been considered the domain of the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners. But much of that is based on branding and the past. Texas has been a non-factor for almost all of the past 12 years. By contrast, Oklahoma has been a consistent contender. But two schools consistently beat NCAAF bets expectations in the Big 12 conversation. The Baylor Bears and Iowa State Cyclones are never popular on the future market board. Yet they often emerge as threats to win the Big 12 annually.

Campbell’s Soup Quite Tasty for Cyclone Nation
Last Saturday, the Iowa State Cyclones got the cash 43-10 against the Ohio Bobcats as 19.5-point favorites. The game went over the Betting on College Football total of 48. Iowa State has a record of 3-0 straight up, 2-1 against the spread, and 1-2 over/under the total.
Namely, Hunter Dekkers threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns Saturday as Iowa State rolled Ohio. The Cyclones improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2012. Dekkers completed 28 of 36 passes and ran for a touchdown. The first-year starter now has thrown for eight touchdowns and 748 total yards. In comparison,
Xavier Hutchinson had nine catches for 93 yards and a touchdown. Hutchinson has five touchdowns in three games, equaling his total from all of last season. It was all part of an Iowa State offensive performance that netted 463 yards.
On the other hand, Ohio never mounted much of a threat. The Bobcats committed four turnovers and finished with 233 yards. Including just 24 yards rushing. Iowa State scored touchdowns on two of its first three drives. ISU then converted two Ohio turnovers into ten more points to build a 24-0 lead.
By early in the second quarter, the Cyclones already had gained 179 total yards. At the same time, they were holding the Bobcats to just 27. Ten different Cyclones caught passes while Jirehl Brock and Deon Silas combined for 134 yards on the ground.
Iowa State Defense

Despite Iowa State’s domination on Saturday, there were a few Cyclone mistakes. A couple of snapping gaffes, unforced penalties, and a blocked point-after kick were eyesores.
