For the past two seasons, Baylor head coach Dave Aranda has often been the hottest name on the coaching carousel. But Aranda has lost some shine over the past month. Nebraska was said to be targeting Aranda for its opening. But those rumors began to quiet after Baylor struggled to stay above the .500 mark. This week the Bears have a dangerous game at Texas Tech. Accordingly, Tech coach Joey McGuire is flipping the Tech script.

True freshman Richard Reese ran for 186 yards and two touchdowns. Including a late game-clincher as the Bears held on to beat Kansas for their first victory in nearly a month. Baylor jumped to a 14-0 lead less than five minutes into the game and led 28-3 at halftime.

Late on, the Jayhawks got within 28-23 when quarterback Jason Bean scrambled 4 yards for a touchdown with 6 1/2 minutes left. But on the ensuing Baylor drive, Reese had a 14-yard gain on a short pass and a 37-yard run before his 2-yard TD run with 2 1/2 minutes left on the last of his 31 carries.

Bears quarterback Blake Shapen left in the third quarter of their loss at West Virginia. But he returned to beat Kansas. In sum, Shapen was 17-of-26 passing for 164 yards with a touchdown, three turnovers, two interceptions, and a fumble.

Red Raiders Serve Warning

Last game, the Texas Tech Red Raiders won 48-10 against the West Virginia Mountaineers as 5-point home favorites. The game went under the bet on NCAAF total of 65. Morton, a redshirt freshman, was solid again in his second straight start. He completed 28 of 45 passes for 325 yards. Previously, he threw for 379 yards passing two weeks ago in a loss at Oklahoma State.

Following a bye week and playing in Lubbock for the first time in nearly a month, Tech scored 17 points off of turnovers. Texas Tech broke a two-game losing streak and improved to 3-0 at home.
