Texas A&M Opens at Home vs. Sam Houston on SEC Network Saturday

Sam Houston Bearkats vs. Texas A&M Aggies CashBet Sportsbook Odds and betting information

Jimbo Fisher has been good but not great at Texas A&M.  So far, the NCAAF bets record shows Fisher isn’t much better than his predecessor Kevin Sumlin.  Jimbo is 34-14, with three big bowl wins in four seasons.  But he only has one year so far with fewer than four losses.  Yet that is hardly anything new for the Aggies.  With last year’s 8-4 campaign, A&M has endured 23 out of the previous 26 seasons with four or more losses. But help is on the way.  Most important of all, A&M is out-recruiting everyone.

Sam Houston vs. Texas A&M CashBet Wagering Analysis

On this occasion, the Aggies will be a massive Bitcoin sportsbook favorite based on public money flooding in against their FCS opponent.  But the question is, how high will gamblers be willing to go?

Sam Houston Brings Impressive FCS Credentials

Last year the Bearkats went 11-1 and made the FCS quarterfinals.  However, they lost a three-year starter, Eric Schmid, at quarterback.  His backup, Keegan Shoemaker, is a transfer from Louisiana Lafayette.  He started there for one Betting on College Football season.  Leading rusher Ramon Jefferson is gone as well from the zone-read-oriented offense of the Bearkats.

Of great concern, Sam Houston lost virtually their entire offensive line from 2021.  Including some guys with some size. Now, their players are in the 290 to 300-pound range.  Sam Houston brought in some transfers who have multiple years of starts at various levels of football.  But they will all likely learn to work as a group as they train on the job.

Aggies Yell for Breakout in 2022

Last year Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies finished 8-4 and 4-4 in the SEC.  Texas A&M beat Alabama to make Fisher the first Nick Saban assistant to beat their mentor.  Offsetting that were losses to the Arkansas Razorbacks, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Ole Miss Rebels, and LSU Tigers.  Correlate that all four of those teams were considered beneath the Aggies.

In turn, Fisher and company just came up with one of the greatest bet on NCAAF recruiting classes in the history of the sport.  While A&M might have had an all-time class, they must replace almost the entire defensive front six.  Additionally, the offense has to be more explosive.

Overall, A&M has a history under Fisher of coming out and playing solid football versus outclassed teams in the first game.  As mentioned earlier, Sam Houston is a quality FCS program.  But they’ve lost some major contributors from last season.  Most important of all, they lace lack size on defense.  Texas A&M had national championship dreams when it hired Fisher.  Now they believe they are closer than ever.  Last season, when they defeated Alabama, it was a signature win for Fisher’s program.

Receiver Ainias Smith leads a strong contingent of returning starters.  Also back is All-America defensive back Antonio Johnson.  And 2021 Freshman All-America offensive linemen Bryce Foster.  Further quality comes from Reuben Fatheree II.   Equally important is that Texas A&M gets a transfusion of elite talent from that top-rated recruiting class.

Defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin led top-15 units at Florida in 2013 and 2014.  Also, he turned that trick at Michigan in 2015. Now, Durkin is tasked to do the same at Texas A&M.  Consider that Durkin has plenty of depth and talent to utilize.

Sam Houston vs. Texas A&M CashBet Free Pick

Late on, Sam Houston has covered four of its previous six betting on NCAAF matchups. At the same time, Texas A&M has covered seven consecutive season openers.  In sum, the Aggies’ price will be far too high to justify.  Oddsmakers know that the public will overload the Aggie side.
