Since Ohio State’s 2002 national championship under head coach Jim Tressel, they’ve been a powerhouse program. OSU finished outside the national top ten final rankings only three times. Head coach Urban Meyer followed Tressel and took Ohio State’s recruiting to an SEC level. Following Meyer’s departure, ace assistant Ryan Day put the Scarlet and Gray into the college football playoff in his first two seasons. Accordingly, the Buckeyes are a 2021 College football betting favorite for the Big Ten title and college football playoff.

2021 Ohio State Buckeyes CashBet Wagering Analysis
Ohio State is again on the top tier of favorites for the 2021 college football playoff and, of course, the Big Ten title. Since the creation of the College Football Playoff in 2014, Ohio State has four appearances and the first national championship in the CFP era. Last year the Buckeyes made the national championship game but were run off the field by Alabama. Gamblers remain bullish on the Scarlet and Gray. Much of that online sportsbook expectation is based on weak Big Ten Conference.
2021 Ohio State Buckeyes Team Overview
Urban Meyer hired Ryan Day as his offensive coordinator with a vision for bigger things. In fact, Meyer saw Day as his successor. Specifically, Day brings the combination of a brilliant offensive mind and elite recruiting ability. Nobody expected Day’s recruiting classes to match the Meyer Machine. Yet, Day has surpassed his mentor’s betting on college football recruiting performance.
At the same time, 2021 could be Ryan Day’s most challenging season. Two-year starting quarterback Justin Fields is gone to the NFL. As a result, there is a huge void to be filled. This is where Day’s highly touted recruiting classes come into play. Whoever takes over at quarterback will be surrounded by five-star talent. Thus, the transition should be as seamless as possible. Defensively the Bucks are loaded with the best talent in the Big Ten. In turn, that gives the offense time to develop.
2021 Ohio State Buckeyes Schedule Highlights
Ohio State opens their bet on NCAAF 2021 season at the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Specifically, it’s a Thursday night, September 2 game to be televised on FOX. This national kickoff game is potentially dangerous. Consider that Minnesota is two years removed from their best season since 1961. Head coach PJ Fleck’s team fell flat in the pandemic-ravaged 2020 season. And they’re eager to show it was a mulligan.
Also difficult is the September 11 home opener against Oregon. Last season the Ducks won the Pac-12 championship and are recruiting at a top five in the country level.
October 23 brings another potential trap date at the Indiana Hoosiers. IU is coming off their best season since 1967. Indiana is tough as nails and rallied to scare Ohio State at the Horseshoe last year. Correlate this matchup is the biggest at Bloomington, Indiana, in several decades.
October 30 brings one of the year’s biggest games at Ohio Stadium. To illuminate, the Penn State Nittany Lions will be visiting. Penn State is coming off a pandemic-decimated lost season. Head coach James Franklin is eager to lead the Nittany Lions back to prominence in the Big Ten.
Extending the land mines is a November 6 game at the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Big Red head coach Scott Frost enters his fourth year still seeking a signature win.
November 27 brings “The Game” at the Michigan Wolverines. Of course, this once great rivalry is now owned by the Buckeyes. Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has never beat the Buckeyes in his six seasons on the job.
