Illinois Hosts Wyoming Saturday on Big Ten Network

CFB Betting: Wyoming Cowboys vs. Illinois Fighting Illini Information

Bret Bielema led the Wisconsin Badgers to College football betting glory a decade ago.  To illuminate, Wisconsin went to three consecutive Rose Bowls from 2010-2012.  They earned that right by winning the Big Ten Conference championship each of those seasons.  But Bielema never fully escaped the shadow of Barry Alvarez.  Alvarez founded and built the Wisconsin program as gamblers know it.  And he made it out of ashes.  So Bielema chased his dream to strike off on his own.  Initially, Bielema was building a strong Arkansas program.  But he betrayed his blueprint and suffered a humiliating implosion.

Wyoming vs. Illinois – CashBet Wagering Analysis

On this occasion, Illinois will be the more popular top online sportsbook.  The Fighting Illini brings the Big Ten brand and home field.  Also, Illinois showed marked improvement in 2012.  Bret Bielema missed a bowl berth by one game in his debut season.  Thus, the public appeal.

Wyoming is a sharp’s kind of team.  Cause by the Cowboys making bowl games in four of the last five non-COVID seasons.  Wyoming brings a rebuilding team that may need time to jell.  Still, they have a record of success that appeals to Wise Guys looking at those ten points.  Head coach Craig Bohl has a proven record of success at navigating change.

Wyoming Rides Under the Radar

Head coach Craig Bohl hasn’t been able to match all his success at North Dakota State.  In turn, Wyoming is not a dominant Betting on college football force.  But the program consistently posts winning seasons and bowl games.  While that is OK, the 2022 season might be a bit challenging.  Several key parts departed via the transfer portal or are done.  But there’s a good base of players on both sides.  Still, this is a year of overall transition.

Overall, there’s still a good base of parts in place.  The lines are fine, and the overall system is good enough to keep success in reach.  But there may not be consistency.  Consider that everything about this program is about control.  But there should be enough wins to push for a winning season.

Bielema Lays a Foundation for Future Success at Illinois

Although it was inconsistent and turned out to be a losing season, Illinois under Bret Bielema suddenly looks like a Bi Ten program.  Last year Bielema and his staff did what they could with what they had.  Now it’s time to produce the program’s first winning bet on NCAAF season in ten years.

Bielema continues to build a new culture.  In turn, he wants more of an attitude to what Illinois football can and should be.  Illinois remains one of those programs that doesn’t seem to live up to its potential.  It’s surrounded by schools that have known recent success at various levels.  And that grates on Fighting Illini fans.

Illinois has to be better and more consistent with the passing game.  Last year they failed to come up with more than 100 passing yards five times in the final eight games.  But when a Bret Bielema team is grinding defenses, it sets the table for everything else.  To show, Illinois went 4-0 when running for 185 yards or more.  On the other hand, they were 1-7 when they didn’t.

At the onset, there is optimism about new offensive coordinator Barry Lunney Jr. And the probable new starting quarterback, Tommy DeVito from Syracuse.  However, it’s not the type of attack that walks onto the field and throws 45 up on the board.

This year’s Cowboy team might be well coached and won’t cheat anyone on the effort.  Of great concern is that it’s going through too much of a Betting on NCAAF overhaul.
