Georgia 2021 Betting Preview: Is This Finally the Year for Next Year’s Team?

2021 Georgia Bulldogs Betting Odds

For many college football fans and gamblers, there is an annoying fact about Georgia.  UGA has only two national championships in its history (1942 and 1980).  Yet this is a college football betting program that thinks of itself as a national power.  Thus, the reality is a humbling statement.  Only Michigan compares as a program with so much hype and so little in actual accomplishments.  Since the arrival of head coach Kirby Smart in 2016, there is a sense that Georgia’s day is coming.  Smart is recruiting at a national championship level.

2021 Georgia Bulldogs Team Overview

Of course, everyone remembers Georgia’s 2017 season.  The Bulldogs probably should have won the national championship.  Georgia led Alabama in the second half of the national championship game.  But the Bulldogs failed to hold the lead against the Crimson Tide.   Tua Tagovailoa came off the bench to make history.  And lead an improbable comeback overtime win for the ages.

Kirby Smart made his name as Alabama defensive coordinator under Nick Saban.  Thus, he won’t rest until that top online sportsbook score is settled.

Following an 8-5 rookie season, Kirby Smart’s program kicked into gear.  Georgia finished in the top seven or better final national rankings in the past four seasons.  Smart learned a valuable lesson while at Alabama.  Specifically, Nick Saban taught him that recruiting is everything.  Smart saw the advantage of five-star players loaded on a roster.  Smart and Georgia believe they are on the brink of a national championship based on recruiting success.

One criticism of Smart is that his offense is not as high tech as Georgia’s rivals. But Smart has indicated that the Bulldogs will open things up in 2021.  UGA will have a few more wrinkles than what has been seen in the past.

Second-year offensive coordinator Todd Monken continues to upgrade the UGA attack.  Fourth-year junior quarterback JT Daniels impressed everyone at the end of the 2020 campaign.  Daniels is a USC transfer that threw for 300 yards in two of his four starts.  Consider that Georgia had a big play capability that was lacking before Daniels took over.  Daniels will enjoy the benefits of an effective ground game and elite supporting cast.  Meanwhile, the defense is young and loaded with five-star Betting on college football talent.

2021 Georgia Bulldogs Schedule Highlights

First, Georgia deserves credit for its bet on NCAAF opening game matchup.  UGA faces national powerhouse Clemson in Charlotte, NC.  Accordingly, it’s a prime-time ABC telecast on September 4.  If Georgia beats Clemson, it could send them on their way for the biggest season in program history.

October 2 brings a home game against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Correlate that Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman impressed everyone in 2020.  Pittman improved the Hogs’ compete level and coaching staff.

Of great concern is that Georgia has a potentially dangerous game at Auburn on October 9. Auburn’s first year head coach Bryan Harsin can gain instant credibility with a win over UGA.

The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party will take place in Jacksonville on October 30.  To show, Georgia faces arch-rival Florida and seeks revenge for last year’s loss.  This game could ultimately determine the SEC East Division title.

Missouri visits Sanford Stadium on November 6.  Fashion that the improved Tigers shouldn’t be taken lightly.  Mizzou is resurgent under second-year head coach Eli Drinkwitz and has won on Georgia’s home field before.

November 13 brings a historical rivalry game at Tennessee.  Likewise, the Vols continue their two-decade rebuild under new head coach Josh Heupel.
