Gamblers Look to Pig Out on Arkansas for 2022

2022 Arkansas Razorbacks CashBet Future Odds

“Woo, Pig Suey!” Specifically, that is the war-cry of Arkansas fans.  And in 2021, gamblers adopted that into a College football betting policy.  Indeed, Arkansas was a winner on the field and at the payout window.  When Sam Pittman was hired for the 2020 season as Arkansas head coach, it was a fallback hire.  Further, Arkansas has no record of sustained success in the SEC and was coming off consecutive 2-10 seasons.  Pittman was a career offensive line coach and was under the radar.  But Pittman was previously a highly popular Arkansas assistant.

At the beginning, Pittman was the runt of the coaching litter.  But the term “perfect fit” now applies.  Arkansas is coming off a 9-4 season and Outback Bowl win.  Recruiting has been strong under Pittman.  The Arkansas program has an upward top online sportsbook trend.

Of course, Arkansas floundered for four years before breaking through in 2021.  Despite playing in the dangerous SEC West.  The 2021 season highlights included rivalry wins against Texas A&M, LSU, and Missouri.  Additionally, Arkansas scored a 40–21 rout of Texas and a win over Penn State in the Outback Bowl.

Last year, Arkansas spent time in the top 10 while showing signs of becoming a contender.  Of great Betting on college football concern is that key parts of that team have departed.

The good news is that quarterback KJ Jefferson is back to operating the run-pass option attack.  Also, Pittman retained elite coordinators Kendal Briles, Barry Odom, and Scott Fountain.  Thus, the Razorbacks get much-needed continuity and the makings of a bet on NCAAF contender.

Pittman’s strong recruiting has better players on both sides of the line.  Jefferson’s presence at quarterback is a huge foundation.  This team won its share of close games in 2021 and is prepared to take the next step.

A Strong History and Aspiration

Arkansas has struggled for relevance in the past few decades.  Once upon a time, the Razorbacks were a national power.  Arkansas won the 1964 national championship under hall of fame coach Frank Broyles.  Two players on that team included future Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his 2-time Super Bowl-winning coach Jimmy Johnson.  Also, Johnson earned fame as the Miami Hurricanes’ head coach.

Following the Broyles era, in 1977, Lou Holtz led the Hogs to an unclaimed national title.  Arkansas has 13 conference championships but mostly in the old Southwestern Conference.

Of course, the Razorbacks played in one of the most famous and greatest games in college football history.  The event was played in Arkansas on December 6, 1969, and became known as the Game of the Century.  Originally at stake was the SWC championship.  It turned out that the game determined the national championship as well.  Arkansas led 14-0 heading into the 4th quarter before the Longhorns rallied for an epic 15-14 win.  President Richard Nixon attended the game and watched it from the grandstand.  Following the game, Nixon declared Texas the national champion.

Arkansas left the SWC in 1992 for the SEC.  The SWC was imploding under scandals.  Thus, the Arkansas administration believed the SEC would provide stability and a greater financial windfall.  However, the move to the SEC has come with a price.

Since joining the SEC, Arkansas has only one top-10 finish.  They have been ranked in the top 25 only six times.  Arkansas has made the SEC championship game three times.  They lost all three betting on NCAAF matchups.
