CFB Betting: Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Auburn Tigers Information

Last year Auburn and Penn State played one of the best non-conference games of the season.  Penn State scored a 28-20 NCAAF bets win to get the money as a 4-point home favorite.  Auburn threatened all night but could not finish.  A White Out crowd at Bever Stadium celebrated far into the evening in Happy Valley.

Now the tables are turned, and the rematch will take place on The Plains of Auburn.  And while Tiger fans are hoping to roll Toomer’s Corner, it will be a dog fight.  Auburn is still trying to recover from the offseason from hell.

Penn State vs. Auburn CashBet Wagering Analysis

Overall, the best sportsbook online action will be split evenly between these two teams.  Auburn will be a popular choice as the home team seeking revenge.  And sharps will think about Auburn’s brutal heat and humidity for an afternoon matchup.  Penn State will draw plenty of action, too, as a power Big Ten brand.

Penn State Impresses Gamblers After Two Good Weeks

Last Saturday, the Penn State Nittany Lions scored a 46-10 win against the Ohio Bobcats as 27.5-point home favorites.  Penn State has a Betting on College Football record of 2-0 straight up, 2-0 against the spread, and 2-0 over/under the total.

Namely, Nick Singleton carried the ball ten times for 179 yards and added a 44-yard touchdown in the third.  And Penn State’s defense dominated the Bobcats.  Penn State’s offense continued to blossom.

Additionally, Sean Clifford and Drew Allar played clean enough.  The Nittany Lion defense bore down to force eight punts, a safety, and a turnover on downs.  Sean Clifford completed 19-of-27 passes for 213 yards, ran for a score, and threw for another.

Correlate Penn State scored on three of its first five possessions.  The sixth-year quarterback capped a 12-play opening drive with a 1-yard scoring plunge.  And then Singleton dashed down the sideline on the Nittany Lions’ second possession to make it 14-0 late in the first quarter.  Clifford threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Mitchell Tinsley in the third before yielding to Drew Allar.

Auburn Escapes San Jose State

Last week, the Auburn Tigers escaped with a 24-16 win against the San Jose State Spartans as 24-point favorites.  Auburn has a bet on NCAAF record of 2-0 straight up, 0-2 against the spread, and 1-1 over/under the total.

Namely, T.J. Finley, Jarquez Hunter, and Tank Bigsby rushed for touchdowns.  The Tigers scored three times in the second half.  After the Spartans took a 10-7 lead into halftime.  Auburn struggled to hold off the more than three-touchdown underdogs.  San Jose State added a late field goal to stay alive.  Finally, the onside kick went out of bounds untouched to end the threat.

The Tigers couldn’t feel comfortable until Finley barreled in for a 4-yard touchdown and a 24-13 lead early in the fourth.  He set it up with a 24-yard pass to Ja’Varrius Johnson.  Meanwhile, Auburn’s platooning of quarterbacks Finley and Robby Ashford continued to produce inconsistent results.  Finley completed 13 of 20 passes for 167 yards. In comparison, Ashford’s three attempts netted only a 1-yard completion.  But he did run for a 30-yard gain and 61 yards.

Late on, Auburn has won two straight after ending last season on a five-game skid.

Auburn’s first two touchdown drives were kept alive by fourth-down conversions.  Including one where Finley salvaged a botched snap.  He dropped the ball, picked it up, and hit Bigsby in the flat for an 11-yarder.  Bigsby then plunged into the end zone for a 1-yard score early in the third quarter.
