2021 Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament betting odds, picks and analysis

Baylor is a top-five program this season under coach Scott Drew.  Also, the Bears won the Big 12 regular-season championship.  Drew is one of the hottest names in coaching.  He is being touted as a potential savior for Indiana.  Concurrently Drew has unfished business at Baylor.  His program is among the top favorites for March Madness betting.  And such status is no accident.  If not for the pandemic, the Bears may have made the Final Four in 2020. Traditional power Kansas is catching fire at the perfect time.  As a result, a collision course is expected.

Baylor’s On-Court Success Depleting Their Board Value

Baylor has a Bitcoin sportsbook record of 20-1 straight up, 14-7 against the spread, and 12-9 over the total.  The Bears rank 4th out of 350 teams for scoring and 55th for points allowed.  However, Baylor’s success on the hardwood has become a problem.  Casual fans are betting the Bears in record numbers.  Oddsmakers have had to raise the price on Baylor to scare off the masses.

Cause by this is a mark of 2-4 against the spread in their last six games.  Baylor is coming off an 81-70 win over Oklahoma State.  But they failed to cover the inflated 12.5-point overlay.  This result is indicative of the Bears’ recent challenges to get the cash.

Guard Jared Butler leads the Bears with 17.1 points and 5.0 assists per game.  Guard MaCio Teague and Davion Mitchell are both over 13 points per contest.

Kansas Ignites after Two Months in the Ditch

Kansas entered the month of February as a team on the outside looking in.  Since then, the Jayhawks have re-established their 2021 March Madness Betting credentials.  KU has lost only one of their last eight games to the spread.  Five of their last six have gone under the total.  Now Kansas stands at 19-8 straight up, 13-12-1 against the spread, and 13-13 on totals.

Coach Bill Self needed longer than usual, but he has his team ready for March Madness.  Guard Ochai Agbaji leads KU with 13.7 points per game.  Forward David McCormack adds 13.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per outing.  Consider that the Jayhawks have five players averaging in double digits.

Defenseless Mounties Forced into Shootouts

West Virginia coach Bob Huggins has half a team for his postseason chances.  To illuminate, the Mountaineers rank 48th nationally for scoring but 229th for points allowed.  West Virginia has failed to cover three of their last four bet on NCAA basketball matchups.  To summarize, the Mounties are 18-8 straight up, 13-13 vs. the line, and 18-8 over the total.  It stands to figure WVU would trend over with their style of play.  The Mounties showed capability in a win this season over Kansas.

Guard Miles McBride leads West Virginia with 15.3 points per game.  Further, forward Derek Culver brings 14.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per contest.

Texas Hooked Gamblers with Hot Start and Slow Finish

At the onset of the season, coach Shaka Smart and Texas were a hot property.  Texas climbed to 4th in the national rankings in those early days.  However, the Longhorns’ success was unsustainable.  Texas brings a 2021 March Madness Betting record of 16-7 straight up, 9-13-1 against the spread, and 14-9 over the total.  Accordingly, the Longhorns rank 87th for scoring offense and 123rd for points allowed.

Fashion that Texas has four players averaging in double digits.  Guard Andrew Jones leads the Horns with 14.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

Cowboys Down to One Bullet

Oklahoma State is one of the hottest brands on the board.  OSU has gotten the money in six consecutive games.  By reason of that, Oklahoma State is 18-7 straight up, 15-9-1 against the spread, and 17-7 over the total.  Namely, freshman guard Cade Cunningham leads with 19.7 points per game.  He has carried the Pokes into contention.
