At the onset, Tennessee is off to another strong start to the regular season. That leads to head coach Rick Barnes. “Regular Season Rick” has proven reliable in getting the Vols into the postseason. However, the NCAABB bets problem for Tennessee is making hay while the March Madness betting sun shines. Tennessee has shown decent value on the board after two months of play. Defense remains the hallmark of the Volunteers. Offensively, Tennessee is inconsistent with poor 3-point shooting. But the Vols are strong on the glass on the offensive end.

2022-23 Tennessee Volunteers Overview
On the whole, Tennessee basketball is back. And Big Orange has a strong chance of being better than ever. The Volunteers are looking to build off their 1st SEC Tournament title since 1979. Tennessee has a stout group of returning Betting on College basketball starters. UT has a capable unit of freshmen and one of the better coaches in the SEC.
Tennessee will feature a few new faces in the regular rotation this season. Expect three or four of those new players to get legitimate playing time this season. Barring injuries that require more underclassman minutes. Specifically, those fresh faces include Indiana State transfer Tyreke Key, freshman wing/forward Julian Phillips, and freshman forward Tobe Awaka as a 9th or 10th man. Additional newcomers include freshman guards DJ Jefferson and BJ Edwards.
The Tennessee Volunteers are a middle-tier bet on college basketball favorites in the minds of gamblers. Overall, Tennessee is respected by most of the gambling public as a competitive team. UT is a program almost certain to make the NCAA Tournament.
Tennessee basketball has the betting on College Basketball potential to be dangerous this season. The Vols have experience with Josiah-Jordan James and Santiago Vescovi. And then a strong frontcourt with Plavsic, Aidoo, and Nkamhoua.
Of course, Tennessee has a chip on their shoulder after a 2nd-round exit to Michigan in last year’s NCAA Tournament. SEC Tournament champions are another reasonable goal for this group. Since coaching Kevin Durant at Texas, Barnes has not seen success in the NCAA Tournament. This group has the talent to make some serious noise, but history says otherwise.
The Tennessee Volunteers have never won a college basketball national championship or made a Final Four. But they have a history of success and a winning tradition. Although Tennessee is a football-first school, they have enjoyed consistent success since the late 1980s.
As far as modern Tennessee basketball goes, no coach is more revered than Bruce Pearl. To many Volunteer fans, those were the true glory years of the program. Pear went 145-61 for a .704 winning percentage. Also, Pearl went to the NCAA tournament in all six seasons as head coach. He posted two Sweet Sixteens and an Elite Eight. But NCAA violations forced his departure. Barnes arrived a few years later and has things back on track.
Concurrently, under Rick Barnes, the Volunteers have enjoyed a resurgence in fan interest and regular-season success. Barnes has gotten Tennessee into the Big Dance in the last three NCAA Tournaments. But his problem is advancing once he gets there. That was the same issue that got him fired after a relatively successful run with the Texas Longhorns.
