One of the most difficult achievements in sports is to win a UFC championship belt.  Consider the long paths of Rob Font and Marlon Vera.  Both are familiar UFC betting names to gamblers dating back several years.  Yet neither combatant has been able to get a shot in the championship ring.  All of which makes their bout on Saturday night of critical importance.  To illuminate, a win could provide a path to a title fight.  At the same time, a loss could mean a permanent setback.  Saturday’s Fight Night is one of the best cards this year.

Font Looks for Rebound as Vera Rides Momentum

Rob Font enters Saturday’s Fight Night with an online sportsbook record of 19 wins and five losses.  Last time out was a shocking loss to Jose Aldo on December 4, 2021.  Font lost the bout by unanimous decision.  The event was UFC on ESPN and held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As a result of that UFC bet loss, Font had a 4-bout winning streak snapped.  Before the loss to Aldo, Font was on a path to a championship opportunity.  Now he is trying to dig out of the ditch after a severe setback.

On the whole, Marlon “Chito” Vera has a career marker of 18 wins, seven losses, and one draw.  Vera has won his last two MMA betting matchups and eight of his most recent ten bouts.  Last time out for Vera was an impressive 3rd-round technical knockout win over Frankie Edgar.  That bout took place on November 6, 2021, as part of UFC 268 from Las Vegas, Nevada.  Previously, Vera won a 3-round unanimous decision against Davey Grant on June 19, 2021.  UFC on ESPN from Las Vegas, Nevada, was the event.

Collier Rides Roller Coaster into Octagon Against Surging Arlovski

Andrei “The Pit Bull” Arlovski has a career UFC betting record of 33 wins, 20 losses, and two no contests.  Arlovski is another veteran combatant seeking his first championship opportunity.  Late on, Arlovski has won his most recent three bouts.  On February 12, 2022, Arlovski won a 3-round split decision over Jared Vanderaa.  UFC 271 from Houston, Texas, was the event.  Previously, Arlovski won a 3-round unanimous decision against Carlos Felipe on October 16, 2021.  UFC Fight Night from Las Vegas, Nevada, was the event.

Meanwhile, Jake “The Prototype” Collier has a career record of 13 wins and six losses.  Collier has a 5-5 record in his last ten fights.  He enters this fight with a win/loss pattern in those ten bouts.  Last time out, Collier defeated Chase Sherman in a 1st-round submission on January 15, 2022.  UFC on ESPN from Las Vegas, Nevada, was the event.

Dawson Printing Money as Gordon Rebuilds Career

Grant “KGO” Dawson has a career record of 17 wins, one loss, and one draw.  Dawson hasn’t lost a fight in six years.  He is undefeated in his last nine bouts.  However, Dawson is coming off a draw against Ricky Glenn on October 23, 2021.  UFC Fight Night from Las Vegas, Nevada, was the event.  Accordingly, Dawson still seeks his first championship bout.

In sum, Jared “Flash” Gordon has a record of 18 wins and four losses.  Gordon has won three of his most recent four bouts.

On the whole, Grant Dawson is not a fighter to step into.  In like manner, Andrei Arlovski has been far more consistent than Jake Collier.  And then Rob Font brings a strong record and plenty of motivation for redemption.
