Marina Rodriguez
Since she was discovered in the Brazil edition in the Dana White’s Contender Series, Rodriguez (16-1-2, 6-1-2 UFC) has been on a tear in the UFC. She has won four straight bouts against the likes of Michelle Waterson, Mackenzie Dern and Yan Xiaonan. These victories have propelled her in the UFC strawweight rankings and is now ranked as the No3 contender to the title currently held by Carla Esparza. Rodriguez has seven stoppage wins, six of them by knockouts and the Brazilian must be fast enough to outpunch Lemos, who also has a reputation of winning inside the distance.
Amanda Lemos
Lemos (12-2-1, 6-2 UFC) bounced back from a tough, one-round defeat to Jessica Andrade by submitting Michelle Waterson in their fight in June. The guillotine choke win earned her a Performance of the Night bonus and validated her claim as one of the best fighters in the division. Since coming off the Brazilian MMA circuit, the 35-year-old has been on a tear, winning six of her last seven fights. Lemos has the tools to end the fight early, winning 10 of her 12 fights via stoppage (seven by knockouts and three by submissions). The No7 strawweight contender must beat her compatriot to climb the rankings and secure a possible title opportunity in the horizon.
