Two of the best strikers in the heavyweight division lock horns in a three-round slugfest that might affect the direction of the 265-pound class. Heavy hitters Derrick Lewis and Sergei Pavlovich face each other on Saturday, July 30, as part of the UFC 277 fight card at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The fight card will begin at 10:00 PM ET, and ESPN will feature the bout on live television. UFC Fight Pass will stream the match for Internet followers.
Lewis looks to bounce back from his recent defeat against Tai Tuivasa and climb the heavyweight contenders’ ladder. On the other hand, Pavlovich seeks to extend his UFC winning streak to four and pick up a big victory against a Top 5 contender in the division. UFC fight odds slightly favor Lewis due to his octagon experience, but in a match where both fighters are known for their knockout power, it’s anybody’s game.

Derrick Lewis
Known as “The Black Beast,” Derrick Lewis (26-9 win-loss and one no contest) is known for his ability to knock out opponents with tremendous power. One of Lewis’ notable knockouts in the octagon was against Gabriel Gonzaga, where he ended the former heavyweight contender in just one round. Lewis holds the record for most knockouts in the UFC with 13 stoppages, and he seeks to extend his KO run in his fight against Pavlovich. However, he could bang and last the distance. Among them were his decision wins against current UFC Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and Roy Nelson. His right hand is lethal that when the New Orleans native lands it on an unsuspecting foe, it’ll be “night-night.”
Sergei Pavlovich
If there is one description that fits Sergei Pavlovich (15-1 win-loss) it’s got to be “fast.” Thirteen of his 16 mixed martial arts fights, including four in the UFC, have lasted in just one round each. The matches against Marcelo Goim and Shamil Abdurakhimov were so great that they gained “Performance of the Night” bonuses. Pavlovich hopes to continue his impressive run against Lewis, but he has to keep the American away from his zone and land his punches. Lewis has a suspect chin despite his tremendous punching power. The Russian needs to find Lewis’ weak spots to pull off an impressive win and improve his contender’s status in the UFC.

Lewis vs. Pavlovich Summary
The Lewis-Pavlovich match will be a toss-up considering their ability to knock out opponents in a snap. Although Lewis has the octagon experience over Pavlovich, the Russian is capable of finishing his rivals in just one round. MMA picks and parlays expect Lewis to take the win in a quick striking battle but don’t sleep on Pavlovich’s hands for it can deliver a knockout blow in just a few seconds.
