Petr Yan
Since Petr Yan came to the UFC back in June 2018, his fast rise to the top cannot be stopped. That changed when he fought Aljamain Sterling in UFC 259 but his real opponent was himself. Yan was disqualified in the fourth round due to an illegal knee and some say that he could have won if the fight went further. He hopes to get back against Sterling but it now has to go through by winning the interim championship belt. This Russian fighter has also been responsible for beating up legendary fighters such as Jose Aldo and Uriah Faber. Both of those matches ended in devastating knockout blows.
Cory Sandhagen
The 29-year-old Cory Sandhagen is now ranked as the third-best contender for the UFC bantamweight title just behind TJ Dillashaw and Petr Yan. He has been due for a title fight and he has this big task of defeating Petr Yan to get to that level. It doesn’t help that he lost to former champion T.J. Dillashaw during his most recent match via split decision. However, Sterling and Yan have been the two favored fighters in the bantamweight division and Sandhagen hopes to prove his case to be among them. His last win was against veteran fighter Frankie Edgar with a flying knee in the first round of UFC Fight Night 184.
