2022 Grand Slam Tennis Season Heads Into High Gear

2022 Grand Slam Tennis Events

Serena Williams is a great example of the name-brand effect with the Tennis betting lines.  Of course, Williams has a total of 23 Grand Slam singles championships in her career.  Additionally, she has spent 319 weeks of her career ranked number-1 on the WTA rankings.  That includes a span of 186 consecutive weeks and five years as the final top-ranked player.  However, Williams has not won a Grand Slam event since 2017.  Yet gamblers still bet on Williams as if she is in her prime.  Grand Slam tennis tournaments draw casual money like few other events.

Roland Garros French Open

When: May 6 through June 5, 2022
Venue: Roland Garros, Paris, France

At the beginning of any conversation about the French Open is Rafael Nadal.  Known as “The King of Clay,” Nadal has 13 French Open titles.  In fact, out of his 91 career Tennis betting odds wins, 62 were clinched on clay courts.  Last year Novak Djokovic upset Nadal to win the French Open.  Nadal admitted that Djokovic outsmarted him.  Also, Nadal, age 35, is not as durable as he was in his younger days.  He holds the Sportsbook odds record for 21 men’s Grand Slam singles titles.

Specifically, on the women’s side, parity has been the rule.  In the last eight years, there have been eight different individual winners.  Justine Henin was the last repeat winner of the French Open with three straight in 2005-2007.

Wimbledon, The Championships

When: June 27 through July 10, 2022
Venue: All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, London, England

In a similar way to the Masters Tournament in golf, Wimbledon is the ultimate Gold Standard of tennis.  It is steeped in prestige, history, and tradition.

On the Gentlemen’s side, Novak Djokovic has won the last three Wimbledon singles titles.  In sum, Djokovic owns six Wimbledon championships in his career.

Last year Ashleigh Barty took the singles title on the Ladies’ side.  In the past five Wimbledon tournaments, there have been five different winners.  Serena Williams was the last repeat winner in 2015-2016 and has seven Wimbledon titles in her career.

US Open

When: August 29 through September 11, 2022
Venue: USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Flushing Meadows, New York

The US Open has had greater parity than other Grand Slam Tournaments on the men’s side.  To show, there have been four different champions in the past four years.  Last year Daniil Medvedev scored an epic win over Novak Djokovic.  Djokovic had the opportunity for a calendar grand slam but fell short against the upstart Medvedev.

Emma Raducanu beat the Tennis betting lines on the women’s side for 2021.  There have been seven different women’s singles champions at the US Open in the past eight years.  And then Serena Williams has a total of six career titles.
