Two months into the season the Flames were in turmoil. Coach Bill Peters was forced out for racially charged comments made years ago. Last year Peters led the Flames to the Pacific Division title. Calgary stumbled out of the gate for 2019-20. That didn’t help Peters survive the controversy. Namely, Geoff Ward ignited the Flames upon being named coach. Ward and the Flames defy hockey betting gravity. Calgary’s metrics are those of a pretender. But Flames opportunism has made them into a contender. Overall, the Stars are a frustrating club. Dallas inconsistent goal-scoring often wastes a suffocating defense.

Dallas Stars vs. Calgary Flames CashBet Wagering Analysis
In view of their public status, neither team is a sportsbook draw. This helps keep their respective wagering value in check. Flames and Stars backers will usually get a true value price. Handicappers can become frustrated with each team. To illustrate the Stars do have some big-name talent. Stars like Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin are perpetual underachievers. Casual fans can often get burned betting the come on Dallas. Counter to that is a Flames team short on name brands. Calgary compensates with strong team and work ethic. Sharps find occasional value with this team formula.
Stars Assert 3-2 Matchup Series Advantage
Should the Flames lose this series it all goes back to game four. Consider that Calgary led Dallas 4-3 with 12 seconds to play. Joe Pavelski tied the game at 19:48 to send the betting on hockey matchup into overtime. Following that was the overtime game-winner for Dallas by Alexander Radulov. Instead of the Flames leading the series 3-1 it was tied 2-2. Next, the Stars went on to win game five 2-1.
Dallas can end the series with a win in this matchup. To go from near-death to on the cusp of advancing is a stunner. Of major concern is how the Flames mental state is. Deep down they know they blew a golden opportunity. Their foot was on the Stars throats. Yet they let the dead man rise. Dallas brings all the momentum into this sixth game.
Dallas Owns Matchup Comparison
At the beginning of this series was a major NHL betting discrepancy between these teams. Dallas ranked second in the NHL for goals against. Calgary ranked a much more mediocre 17th for goals allowed. Offensively the Flames ranked slightly better. To illustrate Calgary ranked 20th for goals with Dallas 26th. Postseason success usually combines strong defense, structure, and timely goal scoring. Flames games are often wildcards. Handicapping Calgary can be an exercise in frustration.
Dallas Stars vs. Calgary Flames Head to Head Handicapping Trends
Increasingly the Stars have lost value as a favorite. Dallas has lost 12 of their last 20 in that role. Only four of their last 10 as chalk went over the total. Head to head the Stars have won nine of their last 13 with the Flames. Only five of the last 15 between these teams went over the total. Specifically, the Flames have won eight of their last 14 as dogs. Just three of their last 14 as pups went over the total.
Dallas Stars vs. Calgary Flames CashBet Free Pick
In this situation, we are reminded about playoff hockey. Success comes with structure and strong defense. Dallas sets itself apart from the Flames there. For example, the Flames failed to hold a late lead in game four. Had they done so Calgary would have taken a 3-1 series lead. Dallas earned a reprieve to get back into the series. Of great betting NHL concern is the Flames erratic metrics. In sum, Dallas simply has a vastly superior structure.
