The New Orleans Pelicans are 28-27 straight up, 26-29 against the spread, and 31-24 over/under the Betting on NBA total.  Overall, New Orleans has NBA rankings of 10th for scoring offense, 11th for field goal percentage, 18th for 3-point field goal percentage, 16th for free throw percentage, and 9th for offensive rebounding.  While defensively, New Orleans has NBA rankings of 15th for scoring defense, 16th for field goal percentage permitted, 2nd for 3-point field goal percentage allowed, and 6th for defensive rebounding.

Since joining the NBA as a pro basketball betting expansion franchise for the 2002-03 season, the New Orleans Pelicans have just one division title (2008) in their history.  New Orleans has had seven playoff seasons since opening its doors.  In 2018 and 2008, they made it to the conference semifinals.

But most NBA gambling fans and gamblers came to believe that the franchise’s best days are yet to come.  Cause by the arrival of the first overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, Zion Williamson.

Although Williamson could manage to play only 24 games as a rookie due to a torn meniscus that delayed his NBA debut, he impressed everyone once he did emerge on the hardwood.  But Williamson may not be the savior he was touted as.  Williamson has battled perpetual injury and weight issues since his arrival.

Furthermore, the 2020 NBA Bubble was a major disappointment for the Pelicans.  New Orleans trailed the Memphis Grizzlies for the final spot in the 2020 NBA Playoffs.  But Commissioner Adam Silver, based on pressure from Turner and ESPN, grooved the bubble with a path for New Orleans to gain the playoffs.  Williamson and the Pelicans flopped and never came close to taking the playoff spot.  Still, Williamson is the biggest name on the New Orleans marquee since either Chris Paul or Anthony Davis.
