Giants Try to Pull Out of Slump Thursday Against Cubs

Chicago Cubs vs. San Francisco Giants Betting Odds by Cashbet Sportsbook

At the onset of the season, the Giants were one of the biggest brands on the future market.  San Francisco was coming off a highly profitable 2021 campaign with the MLB betting odds.  In fact, the Giants ended the domination of the Dodgers by winning the National League West.  But in 2022, San Francisco has lost the element of surprise.  Oddsmakers are waiting on them with overlay prices.  And National League opponents are taking San Francisco seriously.  Now gamblers are suffering with busted bankrolls.  And on Thursday, the Giants will be an expensive home favorite against the Chicago Cubs.

Cubs at Giants CashBet Wagering Analysis

Specifically, casual gamblers prefer a defending division champion at home against a last-place caliber team.  Chicago has little to offer online sportsbook squares.  But Wise Guys are another matter.  Correlate that the Cubs are playing better baseball than the Giants.  Sharps will prefer the large chunk of plus money on the Chicago price.  In comparison, the Giants will be set up as a public overlay.

Cubs Come Out of Hibernation from Cashier’s Cage

Late on, the Cubs have been on a betting on baseball profit-taking run.  Chicago has won five of its most recent six games.  The Cubs have gone over the total in just two of their last seven games.  Now Chicago stands at 39-58 with 43-46-7 under the total.  And on the road, the Cubs are 20-25 with 21-23-1 under the total.  Chicago ranks 19th for run production, 16th for home runs, 25th for earned run average, 26th for fewest errors committed, and 22nd for bullpen earned run average.

Many Cubs fans are disgusted that such a high revenue and mega market franchise could be in a rebuild.  But the recent run by Chicago shows that perhaps there will be better days ahead.  However, gamblers will need a long time to buy into the Cubs.  At least the casual wagering types, that is.  Wise Guys see the potential of Chicago being a hidden value and spoiler down the stretch.

A Giant Drain on Bankrolls

San Francisco has failed to get the money in six of their most recent nine games.  Also, the Giants have gone under the MLB betting lines total in three of their last four games.  As a result, San Francisco is 48-48 and 47-45-4 over the total.  Specifically, at Oracle Park, the Giants are 26-22 with 24-21-3 over the total.  San Francisco ranks 5th for run production, 10th for home runs, 12th for earned run average, 23rd for fewest errors committed, and 26th for bullpen earned run average.

At the beginning of the season, the Giants were considered a playoff lock.  That expectation has blown up over the past couple of weeks.  San Francisco will need a strong rally to get back into wild-card contention.  And the West Division title is a pipe dream.

Cubs at Giants On the Hill

Justin Steele is the probable starter for the Cubs.  So far, Steele has a baseball betting record of 4-6 with a 4.02 earned run average and 1.42 WHIP.  Also, David Robertson has saved 14 games in 19 chances.  Robertson is 3-0 with a 1.83 earned run average with a 0.99 WHIP.

Alex Wood is the likely starter for San Francisco.  Thus far, Wood is 6-8 with a 4.21 earned run average and 1.26 WHIP.  Camilo Doval has 12 saves in 14 opportunities.  And then Doval is 3-5 with a 2.88 earned run average and 1.20 WHIP.

In this situation, the Cubs offer more MLB gambling value.  As was previously noted, the Cubs are in better form.  San Francisco is not playing well enough to justify the big lay.
